Best City For Traders

Quote from 3rdocagt:

If you want to stay under the American flag, I'd suggest SAIPAN. Very equitable climate, fabulous diving, and surf (though its 2 miles off island past outer reef).

Saipan is 30 minutes from Guam, 4 hrs to Osaka, 4 hrs to Manila, 7-8 hrs to Bangkok. Pohnpei is 4 hrs away which has surf that rivals the North Shore of Oahu with about 5 surfers!

It has the highest ratio of women to men in the world! If your into Asian hotties its nirvana.

Cost of living is high, probably about 25-35% more than the mainland.

BUT......no sales tax, no local tax, no real estate tax, no capital gains tax on real estate , and as an American and resident of Saipan you get a 90% rebate on your federal taxes.

If you are a futures trader that means your total tax burden is 2.3% and if Obama raises capital gains tax it will still be a very reasonable 3.1%.

Aloha.

Sounds like a great spot!

So i think before 2009 is out i'll have enough money to trade full time.

I'm 24 and have B.A. and i would like to gather some career traders opinions on which city would be the best to move to.

Trading is pretty solitary so i'd like to move to a city where it's kinda busy and easy to get out and be social.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Contra thoughts:

If you have lived in your current place for a while. you already know some people - family/friends, whatever. Wherever you move to, you will know NO one, and will make it more, not less isolating.

Moving itself, and going to an expensive city, is going to consume some of your trading capital. Do you really want to spend $36,000 a year for a small Manhattan apt?

You may find you are NOT successful full time trading, as some learn the hard way.

Thus, why not STAY for a year and get your fulltime trading rolling?

I miss the L, right now I have to drive every damned place because Seattle's rail options are piss-poor.

lol I used to live on Vashon Island and work at Carillon Point on Lake Washington. I've never crossed so much water in my life getting to work.

Vashon was great, all the hippies got rich and retired there. Lots of long haired folks in Rolls Royces. Guess they got down with capitalism after all. :D

The Florida Keys is for faggots or fisherman, not much of a social life otherwise.
