Bernie Sanders Wants Huge ‘Robin Hood’ Stock Tax To Make College Free

I think his emphasis on education as a means to stop the widening gap (much less narrow it) is misplaced. We don't have much of a skills gap, so while admirable, the consideration of a "earn your living" path is moot. Machines and other technology are producing the lion's share of our needs today, and as to our wants, selling phones and t-shirts at the local kiosks is not going to pay the bills. Holding two such jobs won't pay the bills, and our young people know it.

we already decided a hundred years ago it was in our best interest to educate a child grade one to grade 12 free of charge no matter how much money their family had.

high school degree was a big deal back then

now you need some bs

I guess that's easier than addressing the outrageous cost of tuition. Easier than addressing all the completely useless degrees that we've made up just so the barely literate high school grads can go get their meaningless college degree. Easier than convincing younger people that technical training is probably a better choice in most cases. Easier than telling the truth about why we offshore all the blur collar manufacturing work.

ha ha ha, is that what you want? Your children and grandchildren becoming blue collar manufacturers? What's next? Teaching them how to assemble ipads? Is that what you want? A nation of manufacturers?

Lots of trades jobs paying far more than jobs based on 4 year college degrees. Welders in North Dakota basically get to set their price, they are getting paid as much as doctors in many cases, nothing wrong with taking a job in the trades.

a job in the trades is far different than a blue collar manufacturer
