Bernie Sanders Wants Huge ‘Robin Hood’ Stock Tax To Make College Free

At the very least, student loan rates should be what the Fed is charging the banks.
You're right, and the cost of tuition should be cut by 50%. What happens is that the more federal money becomes available, the higher the school jacks up their tuition. Cut the student loan rate without doing something to cap the tuition and they'll just use it as an opportunity to jack it up some more.

yeah sure why not... create colllege care..
have the govt subside the crap out of it so wall street banks can buy for profit schools.
then charge high fees but give everyone govt backed loans.
then when the students realize they can't get jobs... let the schools collapse... after taking aout a few billion.

what could be wrong with getting govt involved again.

Judge Roberts could then force everyone to go to college and make us pay a tax if we don't go.
To make shooll affordable we could set up state exchanges...

Yeah... I want govt involved in more things.

Get the govt out of this loan business and tuition would get cut by 70 percent.

oh for crying out loud, we have free one through 12, that's how I was educated and it was a very good education (before the Department of Education) and you are bitching about another 4 years?

the job market was hot back then and after 12 years they could hardly wait for you to either apply or enlist. It took real restraint to pursue another four years (not to mention you got a draft deferral.)

but now that extra four years is absolutely necessary because kids today are a lot slower

Federal guarantee.

we are not going to pay what some college asks for, we are going to pay what we say it costs for 13 thru 16 just like we did 1 thru 12. What's the big deal?

Lots of trades jobs paying far more than jobs based on 4 year college degrees. Welders in North Dakota basically get to set their price, they are getting paid as much as doctors in many cases, nothing wrong with taking a job in the trades.

If I were starting out today, I'd pick up a trade - no question. Less time in classrooms and get a job where you can point at your results.

Interesting to see the bubbles in stuff people buy, whether it is a sheepskin, a new house or healthcare. All three are bubbleiscous, have a whole lot of government interference (including plenty of civil rights laws) and plenty of not paying for years and years. If the car companies could make cars last 30 years (so they can crank out 360 month financing), the price of automobiles would soar! Heck, they could probably get 200k for them.

Guess that is also the plan on all this software-as-a-service. Charge a Jackson a month forever instead of $60 all at once.

Sanders, who is the only candidate so far to mount a formal primary challenge to Hillary Clinton, argues that making college tuition-free will help America compete in the global marketplace.

Tell me how PhDs in music and woman's studies is gonna do that, Bernie. The people that want STEM classes will find a way to get into school. The people waiting on the freebies generally aren't rocket scientists.
