I was expecting you sooner on this thread to repeat your mantra. I'm afraid you will be the one changing your tune before I do. Coal is on its way out in the US and it ain't coming back.

If all fossil fuels went away right now, the energy grid of the world would stop, and the world would plunge into chaos. So if coal is 24% and NG is 38%, which is 61% of all power generation, are you telling me that the rest is from wind and solar? How about nuclear, which is not renewable?

The bottom line...We will need fossil fuels for centuries to come, until we invent Mr. Fusion™
 
I will be driving a fossil fuel motorhome (diesel) 30 years from now if I am still alive and able. EV is BS. We gonna fight our wars with little electric tanks? Fighter jets that fall out of the sky when their batteries die? LOL.

I remember back in the 70’s when they were hollering “danger…danger…ice age coming! LOL Now they holler climate warming….it is all about $$$$$$$$$$$.

I and many in the renewable energy world put nuclear as a green energy. Much more can be done to further process nuclear beyond present use. Yes, it's more dangerous than wind and solar but doesn't pollute like coal and gas.
As previously discussed, there are many smaller countries today that run entirely or nearly on renewable energies so no, the world wouldn't plunge into chaos.
What we do have is a segment of the US population, its elected officials and its financing conglomerates unwilling to transition to clean energy because it would mean those businesses shrink, politicians lose their financing and their electors having to change their lifestyles.

Per link, 39% of energy today comes from nuclear and renewable sources. Bet you didn't think it was already that high...

Impossible. The wind farms keep going down because it kills birds. The wave energy tech gains no traction because it kills fish.

Yet everyone wants to eat tuna. The entire renewable space is hypocritical. These are the same debutantes that apply make-up to their faces, made with fossil fuels. Tired of the hypocrisy!

as for the where the energy comes from. cost of ownership for EV's is way lower. Do you know why? a couple of key reasons are electric motors are close to 90% efficient, while ICE's are only about 30% efficient, max. Electricity is also much easier to transport/distribute than gasoline.


That's not even my favorite part. EV's are far less likely to break down. less moving parts means more reliability. Weakest component has traditionally been the battery, and that's where the main arms race is. Tesla's Maxwell acquisition with their dry electrodes and other tech is highly understated, and will lead to dramatic (I mean dramatic) reduction in cost. Their academic collaborators in Canada is working on the million mile battery, and before you call BS on some academics, I was in that scene and know all about it, but this guy is the real deal. Imagine a car that stays on the road for a million miles and can drive itself. If you're oblivious to this, idk what to tell you. It's over.

We're talking energy supply and you switch to tuna and makeup. Got an issue with women?
I know how obtuse you are when it comes to renewables. If only you spent time reading on advances in the field, both present and coming within 10 years, you might open to the idea. I understand polluting energy suppliers won't disappear as soon as I'd like them too. But rejecting renewables makes no sense unless you're fully invested in oil, gas and coal and hope to retire on it.
 
Got to love GM and its sugar daddy Biden government.

Take 2.5B to built battery factories, take 15.8B to transition to EVs... And follow up with a 10B buyback. Oh look! GM must be doing exceedingly well its share price just jumped.
