i love facts.. but do you think society needs access to even more advanced weapons technology and that in direct proportion society is safer?
Quote from Wallet:
The criminal element has long bypassed semi in favor of fully automatic weapons, in response our local Police have updated all cruisers with full auto capability to match the threat.
Once again the law abiding citizens are not the problem, neither are guns, the finger that pulls the trigger is responsible.
Criminals don't give a flying flip about the law, gun restrictions only handcuff their victims. There are enough gun laws already on the books, enforcement is what's needed, not more legislation.
Quote from killthesunshine:
i never said ban all guns. I think that's a bad idea. i asked why we need SEMI-AUTO RIFLES? I do think we need progressively greater regulation and restriction OVER TIME to weed out those guns that serve no obvious purpose for DEFENSE. Agreed?
Quote from Mom0/pH0x:
you know what kills even more people than guns? cars!!! automobiles kill hundreds of times more than guns per year, if we just get rid of them we'd kill far fewer people...
Quote from tomdavis:
Semi-auto rifles are rarely used to commit crimes, but do make excellent self-defense weapons, as do shotguns. The bad guys are going to get their hands on whatever they want. Honest law-abiding citizens should be allowed to defend themselves with whatever type of firearms they feel are appropriate. Simply owning a gun, semi-automatic or not, should not make someone a criminal. Criminalizing ownership of guns because a very small percentage use them to commit crimes is like criminalizing car ownership because some people drive drunk. The government should focus on catching and punishing people who use guns to commit crimes, not law-abiding citizens who happen to own guns.
