this opens up any contract to be reviewed by a judge, which means contract law goes in the garbage.

She demonizes Bush about lying us into to Iraq.
She has NEVER said anything good about Bush.
Why in God's name is she taking his lead now?
Ron Paul is dolt as well, not because he is not right, but because he was STUPID enough to run as a Republican.
If he were a third party candidate now, he might have a real chance to win if they vote the bailout or if they don't vote the bailout.

politicians worship power. if she wanted to make the R'pubs look bad, she would drag this out bigtime, unless she really believes the system will implode. she is not buying time; McSame thru a monkey wrench in, or this deal would be done. if she and Blarney Franks even had a clue, they would have been restricting bank credit - the spigots were wide open for years. of course, the 'pubs had equal or greater opportunities. so there!
the issue about re-writing mortgages... that is a major concession, not to mention massive wealth transfer. that is right along the Democratic theme of supporting their dependent base. if you have ever invested directly or built anything in a 3rd World hellhole, you'd know how critical property rights and contract law are to investors.

I THINK the deal is in JEOPARDY.
The political reality is this.
Paulson has set up a DOOMSDAY scenario if it isn't passed.
So the argument to vote for the bill is to SAVE the free world from financial destruction.
But the Democrats have more to lose by NOT voting for it than the Republicans.
Many Republicans who vote for it will LOSE their seat no matter if the bill succeeds or not, simply because there is so little time left until the election.
The political dynamics is simple. The Republicans have the WH for at least a couple of more months and the prospects of keeping it are NOT good. The Democrats have congressional majorities and good prospects for retaking the WH.
The end game is that Republicans are saying to Democrats that the financial Armageddeon may be impending, but you got the votes to save the financial free world then do it, we are not going along against the OVERWHELMING will of the American people.
Democrats are gaining huge political leverage over the Republicans by voting for this. Combine this with their desire to smooth over things with pissed off voters, they will do what politicians do - give them free stuff.
I fully expect a $700 billion Main Street rescue package at some point. And Republicans will be up against a wall if they try to block it.
