Automated trading with R on IB

He is a data scientist. Not a quant trader nor trading system developer. In each hedge fund, bank or hft firm there are a number of guys who have not an inkling of knowledge of brokers and broker apis. Jeff possesses a lot of domain knowledge and that is what his employer hired him for. Does that make it clearer?

And most of his former startups did not turn a dime else he would not be toiling at a hedge fund as a salaried guy.

Uhhh, he works at Citadel. Maybe you've heard of them? BTW a friend ran into him at the New York R Conference last week and reports he's still maintaining at least some of his R packages.

You may want to first try reading posts accurately rather than injecting your wild interpretations. I have known Jeff longer than you have ever heard his name.

So a multiyear Citadel vet knows less about financial markets than the ET crowd? Is that your final answer?

And thank you for gracing us mortals with the bastion of experience that showcase your well-thought out, rich posts. You're the Stephen Hawking of amateur hour finance.
Thank you for your humor. It makes my day. We need more like you here.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but isn't it suspicious that the world's largest market maker decided to hire a guy who maintains software used by their counterparties? Incentives, guys. Only the paranoid survive!

Total nonsense. I automate with IB and clear over 800 mln usd equivalent notional every single month trading currencies via one of their IB APIs. Have also used FIX a while ago. IB is as solid as any other broker offering API access.
I think you misunderstood. My post was in reference to using IBrokers as a front end which is not feasible. I also automate through IB, but with a stable front end. I have nothing bad to say about the IB API structure.

You're apparently well-connected in 312-land. Why don't you ask Ken what he was thinking?

I am indeed very young. You'd be amazed what HGH and viagra can do for a man. Anyway, go back to day trading USDEUR in the Philippines... with IBPy. Feel free to trade in Assembler for all I care, it's your money.

It's better to give things a thought than be a confused bunny full of caffeine, sugar and apparently viagra.

I'm not sure what my location or what I trade has anything to do with it but I neither trade EURUSD nor am in the Philippines. Mediocre try at deflection.

You sound like someone who cries if they don't get their way. Good day.
