Baron is only interested in the masses of newbies. They are the sheep who flock in numbers to the site and keep it well greased. Baron does not care about sophisticated traders like you EricP and he does not care about quality content.

B. Rowshan was banned after this thread, and i'm sure i'll be banned too for writing this post. Of course, first the attack monkeys will stomp on me ie r raskilinov and ivanovich who both blindly support anything Baron says.

Bottom line, this site is all about fleecing newbies. As long as the newbies flock, Baron will change nothing.

I have to support anything Baron says. He's the site owner, and I am a moderator of the site. Duh.

And you are banned again, Rowshan. Thanks for the heads up on the new IP.

I would have to agree that a self-moderated forum would be nice at times.

"In some form" could that not simply be one sub-forum, say the Journal section - or some such.

Ignore works to some extent - except for when people feel the need to quote those that I have on ignore, kinda defeats the purpose.

This is for all those who feel like ET no longer has any value:

What's interesting is that there's a repeating pattern of complaints that persists no matter what the year is. The quote above complains that these days aren't as good as they were back in 2005. In 2005 there were people complaining that the site wasn't as good as it was in 2001. Then of course there were people who complained in 2001 that ET had gone to hell and just wasn't what it was back in 1999. And even back then there were people who reminisced about the good ol' days of ET back in 1997.

Now, what's interesting is that the site has not changed in any significant way since it was first started. The site structure is the same as it's always been. There are a few more discussion forums than there were in the beginning but the forum rules and moderation standards are the same. In fact, we even have a handful of moderators that have been with us the whole time. I've owned the site since day one, so there hasn't been any ownership or management change either.

So with all that said, guess what is guaranteed to be posted in 2012?

"...I remember the good ol' days of this site and let me tell you, ET is not what it used to be. There were actually some experienced and helpful traders when I first became a member back in 2009 but now this place has gone to hell."

However, a closer look at all this reveals the real truth, which is simply this: ET hasn't changed at all. You've changed.

What you found interesting four or five years ago is not what you find interesting now because you've had more market experience, and have likely learned some tough lessons along the way. You browse the boards trying to find a thread that will spark your interest like it did years ago when you first joined the site, but it's now become more and more difficult as your knowledge on the subject has increased and you've matured. You've gotten older and your tolerance for those people who act like idiots on message boards had decreased dramatically, which is why it appears like the "Quality of this place has deteriorated dramatically" and you cry out that "Something must be done!".

The real story however, is that everyday new people discover ET for the first time. To them, this place is just the destination they've been looking for to network and interact with other traders. In fact, they love the site not just because it contains the collective wisdom of traders from all over the world for the past ten years, but because there are personalities that make the site fun and entertaining. They enjoy the ball-busting and the clash of personalities. They enjoy reading the Journals from those that are bold enough to post their trades and talk about their strategies. And they even enjoy the debates and jokes in the P&R and Chit Chat forums.

So if you're reading this and your one of those people who now find themselves struggling to find anything of value on ET, then your just the type of the person we want on this site, because your the guy who's gone full circle. You're the guy who no longer looks to the site for useful content: You're the guy who provides it. You're the experienced trader that the newbies want to learn from. You're the guy who focuses on putting out great posts, every single time, no matter how many clowns and detractors there are. And if you take on that role starting now, in 2012 your posts will be the reason other traders will refer to 2009 as "The good ol' days". :)

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuulSHIT! :) :D

That's gotta be the most outstanding topping signal ever seen. Its got COMPLACENCY stamped all over it.

BEAR will tear you a new asshole, baron. Ripe for TraderZones to buy this place for 10c/$.

I've been here only a few months, was excited at first and thrilled to be here as you correctly described - but here is where you're wrong - I haven't gone full circle, actually I've gone nowhere fast in 4 months. I'm still a newbie and all dressed up to learn but there is nobody putting out anything worthwhile. Absolutely totally zippo.

One look at Lescor's thread shows that there are even oldtimers who are HUNGRY to learn - this is crystal clear.

The trading venues are sepulchres. Jesus only needed one, but you need several. They are totally dead. I ought to know, I died there too!! :) There are no good traders in there whatsoever.

TraderZones was correct - they've all gone. Fck if I know what's going on, I've never met any of them but I'm damned sure this site ain't teaching me doodly and I'm a NEWBIE.

EricP and others:

If you'd like, I could create a private forum where you and other serious traders could interact with each other without newbies and trolls disrupting the conversation.

Users would have to be added manually, and their access to the forum would be dependent on their past post history on ET. If their past is questionable, or they have no past history at all, a.k.a. a new user, they don't get in...period.

What do you think?

.:D :D :D

Yeah, put that in a banner ad, "Newbies & Trolls general forum"

Then add in trolls manually - fuck us in the ass real good for being so dumb as to come here to learn something.

And you're proud of this NO CHANGE scenario?

Newbies arrive by the thousands, many die just from the rampant confusion, the few smarter ones split before their post count exceeds 500, the remainder go on to become prolific posters who know the lingo well, can't trade worth a shit but make out like they're successful and the charade goes on and on and on .... same ET, same clowns, only more of them, same game, same complaints ....

And you're proud of this, baron?

guaranteed to be posted in 2012 .....

ET 1.0 still going strong - Microsoft Windows version "N" :)

TraderZones is the most helpful fellow here. Jack Herschey is #2. Both are perfect gentlemen. The 2 hate each other, but if they combine forces, they could capture baron and put him in an electronic fortress for a decade while the site is improved a thousandfold. :)

If this does not occur, then we'll just get more smoke on the water, a fire in disguise .....

:D :D

GENERALLY (i.e. not always) threads with very large hits compared to the norm are those with pussy pics - page views in the trading venues are low in comp. - pussy is where the heart is at ET. Might as well make it an XX site.

the fellows who've gone full circle are posting vaginal effluent to such an extent that ET, in the eyes of this newb, is now a "vendetta" site. Being a cunt is not what banter, fun, joshing is about.

Posting about pussy is about as boring as it gets as the real thing is superior to the circular motion with the hand. But what's a fellow to do when he comes to a site called E L I T E trader and discovers that its no such thing whatsoever? Wait patiently, beating off and hoping that some magnificent traders from the past will resurface?

Unbeknownst to you, your excellency, you've described the mighty TraderZones in the above quoted para.

Ridiculed, attacked like he's some terrorist, a leper, a degenerate, a reprobate et al., he still shows up for work and wades thru' these bullets like its just another day at the office.

HE is the newbs best friend but as should be expected, insanity is contagious, so the newb just follows the oldtimers and lays even more shit on Zones plate. Damn shame is what it is.

Other than Zones and Hershey and perhaps, though not yet sure, a couple others, you've got doodly on this site that are worth learning from.
