I tried it about two years ago under a variety of different payment structures. That's about as much detail as I'm going into, as it's pointless to go any further.

That's interesting.
I was a member of ET back then and never saw anything that you mentioned.

Quote from Baron:

You have failed to make a compelling case as to why the forum should be eliminated. However, you have managed to make a great case as to why you should avoid that forum completely. If the people that post in that forum are largely contained to that single forum as you suggest above, and you spend most of your time in other trading-related forums anyway, then all you have to do is not visit the Politics & Religion forum any more and your problem with the site will be solved.

With all due respect, I was not really surprised by your answer. You obviously lose out on a TON of web-activity if this Forum were to be terminated, and that would put a serious dent in your business "model".

Thank you for clarifying this issue, and what takes priority with you regarding this website.

You wouldn't have seen it unless you were logged out and trying to register a new alias.

As you well know, that was clearly not the case.

I've had the SAME ONE SCREEN-NAME since I registered three years ago in July of 2006.

Your answer infers that existing members were already "grandfathered" in and that the new subscription fee was only meant for new members. Do I understand you correctly?

Even so, I never saw or heard of this subscription based "offer" that you speak of from 2-years ago.

But hey, if you want to start a trading web site of your own and charge people to access it, go for it.
Quote from Baron:

Look, I don't talk about ET as a business much but let me just say this: I've been doing this for 12 years. I know what works and what doesn't. That's why ET is still around
You got some real nerve talking this rudely to landis. After all, landis has worked for Paul Tudor Jones. And landis has already taken the time to personally call and whine to you on a gorgeous saturday night in the bay. Doesn't that count for something?

You're an idiot if you didn't understand what he said.

He's saying - that unless you tried to register a new alias, then you never would have known about the deal.

Why is that so hard?

Just cuz he's having a disagreement with you about how to run HIS website doesn't mean he's attacking you with this post.

Grow a thicker skin.

Sounds like YOU are the one that is ultra-sensitive about the "clarification" that I sought.

I see nothing wrong with simply asking Baron for some clarification regarding the subscription based membership "offer" that he briefly mentioned in a previous post.

If you are correct with your assertion in how this new "fee-based" subscription was set-up, it clearly was most narrow and did not apply to the vast majority of ET members.

Lets face it.

A large number of people that actually TRADE for a living have left this website. People such as Longhorns as well as others come to mind. I simply offered two suggestions (that were directed at Baron and no one else) that I believe were constructive and could make this website a more positive experience for current members, as well as future members.

As I recall, Dustin and others have chimed in as well. I'm obviously not the only one that sees a need to "fix" some of the "crap" that has been plaguing and escalating on this website for some time.

People have told me that there is NO WAY that Baron will ever change the business model of ET because it is too profitable in its current form . . . even with all of the aliases and racism, pissing-matches, and assorted "cut and paste" clowns that offer no substantive posts whatsoever.

I thought that they were wrong in assuming that. After seeing Baron's recent response to my ( and their ) suggestions, I can see that THEY were clearly right in their assessment.

Asked and Answered.
I'm sorry that you have a problem with that.

Why can't you ever lead by example landis? Leave this site if all of this bothers you so much.

With all this whining you're doing, I say wait until it's saturday night, and pick up the phone and call baron with your complaints. It wouldn't be the first time you tried that.:D

Quote from Landis82:

At least when I leave, I will do so with ONE screen-name instead of the half-dozen aliases that a highly neurotic and low self-esteem POS like yourself commands.
I've only had one screen name at a time, same as you landis/waggie/apex capital etc.

And I assert that anyone who understands psychology would affirm that the poster with the low self-esteem would be the one who follows around newbies crying that they "don't trade" and that they "cut and paste" too much. Anyone who has any pride would never, ever lower themselves to hassling newbies like you do.
