I would like to draw attention to the arguments of Jim E.'s over HERE at TheologyWeb. Jim E. is an atheist who went an unbelievable 240 pages, virtually alone, against the dogs of dogma...keeping a level head...and a singularly powerful argument all the while. Here, the sanity of atheism is apparent, when compared side by side with fanatic faith. This is not an endorsement of an atheistic conclusion. It is an observation of relative states of mind. What is important is to observe how lower levels of fear aid in the reasoning process. To my way of thinking, fear of GoD is the most obvious form of insanity.

Maybe atheists are right, maybe they are wrong, but the contention that atheism is a or a product of mental illness does have a strong basis in psychological theory.

Is it so hard to believe that children who were the subject of abuse by father figures either within the home or in their church would then reject the concept of a father figure God as they grew into adulthood?

Has a tremendous amount of pain and suffering in the world been inflicted at the directive of the Popes over the course of human history, you know, the "Holy Father?"

Is it coincidence that so many atheists are angry at religion?

Is it a really a coincidence that they are especially angry with Father based authoritarian religions like Christianity...rather than in love with their current faith in atheism?

I haven't seen any published studies demonstrating the inaccuracy or flaw in Dr. Vitz's studies...

So the proof is there, if you can lift the blinders to see it...
