No , kinda reminds me of the time a year ago in the middle of the day the office door was locked (very unusual; ). Of course I had a key and the office manager said there was a gunman on the loose in town. You should have seen the look on her face when I said exiting the building "I ain't worried, besides I got shit to do " and left.
I figured my odds of encountering the gunman at about 1/500000.
As opposed to not getting paid, I'll take those odds every day of the week.
I was probably more at risk of being shot by the police than by the gunman anyway.

That's great and I applaud your positive involvment with your kids. The problem is they/we have to live in the same country as those that are not getting such positive instruction. At some point we all have to step out onto that crazy world we live in, and it's getting crazier by the day. I keep saying that those that want this free for all, every man for himself type society ain't thinking it through. Yesterday is what the free for all looks like. It happened in a really nice place, not some inner city shithole. It's dangerous out there and you can be armed to the teeth youself, but what about your family? As much as I oppose gun control, arming ourselves for daily combat ain't the answer either. We have ourselves a long and tough road ahead, and ain't nobody coming to save us. It's on us to fix this. Us! Not you, not me, certainly not the worthless fucks in D.C., but all of us as a community. One community after another, block by f'n block if that's what it takes.

They've determined that the shooter was at the school the day before and got into an altercation with 4 staff members, 3 of whom were killed yesterday. They are saying that it was the motive though it isn't clear why he killed his mother.
The mom was some kind of gun collector:
"Nancy Lanza was an avid gun collector who once showed him a "really nice, high-end rifle" that she had purchased, said Dan Holmes, owner of a landscaping business who recently decorated her yard with Christmas garlands and lights. "She said she would often go target shooting with her kids.""
One of those guns was a new M4 carbine, a military grade weapon.

Can't say I know any women who have an interest in that kind of weapon. I know I was apprehensive when I told my fiancee that I owned an M1A but she asked to see it and was very enthusiastic about it. Its kept in a safe so it could never be accessed by kids. Women with children worry about any threat to those kids so they are surprisingly open to having firearms around if they are stored safely. Who knew?
