Absolutely. They don't care about the actual facts or that none of their proposals would have prevented this. They just want to exploit every tragedy and try to turn it into an emotional exercise.

From their standpoint, they know they won't get any new laws but it gives them a chance to bash republicans and the NRA.

If you raised cain about illegal immigration or letting in muslims every time there was some horrific crime involving them, the media and the PC police would attack you as a racist bigot etc. For some reason, a different standard applies to gun confiscation.

Most righties I know are not opposed to background checks. This is even more true regarding mental health issues.

Agreed. I don't think at this point we can out vote the parasites. And sadly this country's become too damned dumb (intentional-thanks gubment! ), to vote. The outlook's bleak to say the least.
