Actually walking up to a black person and calling him the dreaded "N" word wouldn't make you a racist. It would just make you ignorant and rude. It is the equivalent of swearing at him. What if I just called him ugly instead would that make me a racist...? Racism does have a definition and you need to face facts. You can't use "racism" wherever you feel like it.

Here is an example:

Me: “Aaarrrggghhh… I stubbed my toe against that black chair!”

You: “Hey… It isn’t the chair’s fault that it’s black! Why are you such a racist Nazi!???

Me: “What the hell are you talking about?”

Seems ridiculous doesn’t it? Well that’s because it is! Nevertheless, that is exactly what is going on.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I am just blown away by this coming from someone I disagree with 99% of the time. You expressed my sentiments exactly. The federal government's inaction and intentional failure to address this problem left Arizona and other border states in a terrible situation. Government's first duty is to protect its citizens, and that is not happening on the border.

How we can have several hundred thousand troops scattered all over the globe but we're unable to protect our own border and the people who live there is just an outrage.

It's against the law but it really isn't. Just like when you drive 75 mph and hour in a posted 70 mph zone and drive right past a highway patrol. They allow most to speed. The feds treat the immigrants the same way and don't really care about the illegal’s until one of them gets into trouble, and they really don't care about the hard working illegal’s here, which many are. And it isn't the illegal’s fault, they'd be stupid not to come here and better their life. It's not the business man's fault, the federal government has looked the other way and by an almost total lack of enforcement has given approval in a round about way. The federal government needs to decide on what they are going to do, but in the last 30 years nothing much has changed. If it was up to me I'd have a free sign in to get an identity card for every illegal here. There would be no penalty for coming and getting a card and they wouldn't be immediately shipped out. We also wouldn't make any promises about letting them stay. Simplify the process for the ones working, a letter from their employers will give them immediate temporary legal working status. We do this for a couple of years and most will be documented and we will really know what the hell we are talking about as far as how many and what they are doing here. Then we can start making policy based on facts not fear and we'll have a way to keep track of the workers and make a decision on how many we should allow here. And the immediate tax revenue increases would help too!!
