Are We On The Brink Of Civil War?

Completely ridiculous! ON IGNORE!!
Alas poor Scats... I didn't know him well.

A civil war may be a logical uprising. The French Revolution seems like more of a spontaneous movement. While either could happen here and now, I'm guessing due process will work.

While I am not going to ignore anyone exactly, there are other things I need to be doing...

Hummm. How many of us have a large sharp blade and a rope? And why did the french have so many of them on hand? That is a head scratcher... or with a basket... a head catcher!

Large sharp blades and rope won't work well against semi-automatic firearms.

the country will survive [we somehow survived the 1860's didn't we?]

i think our current president is partly to blame for the current situation - can't think of a good word right now. We can debate how much...but he's partly to blame

If you were truly being honest here, you'd not blame Trump for the current situation. Trump was elected because things got so out of whack that a man like that was able to take power. It can get far, far worse.

I was a teenager in the sixties. This ain't the sixties, yet. We have a long hot summer ahead of us, and we're one Ferguson type incident from things blowing up big-time. We're one campus riot posing as a protest from a mass killing. We're one assassin away from political chaos. The ingredients are already in the pot for some real bad times. All it takes is for one incident to happen, AND, someone to turn up the heat while stirring the pot. Enter media to provide that service.

Because he's not divisive? Because he doesn't take a swipe at Democrats or anyone else who even remotely opposes him at every opportunity imaginable? Because he's all about togetherness? Because he leads by example? No, Trump is all about hate and "them."

The gunman is responsible for the tragedy. Trump's conduct simply did absolutely nothing whatsoever to deter that tragedy or to assuage the lunatic's anger that was very possibly brought on by Trump's unrelenting demagoguery. I would not have even brought it up had it not been for you pack of wolves politicizing this tragedy.

One thing that interests me, whatever happens: When the French revolution happened it took what... 6 weeks? From things being 'normal' to sweep the country where they would catch people of privilege and judge them. And that was without communications as we know it.
.

My reading of history suggests the French Revolution was at least 50 years boiling, till it boiled over.

It was helped by the then version of media: philosophers and or agitators printing pamphlets and books.

Glad you admit these things can be brought on by unrelenting demogoguery. Now we just need to figure out who/what really fits that description.

"Demagoguery is an appeal to people that plays on their emotions and prejudices rather than on their rational side. Demagoguery is a manipulative approach "
