Are We On The Brink Of Civil War?

Michael Savage thinks so. He said as much on his show less than 24 hours before the Bernie Bro tried to take out the Republican baseball team.

Less than 24 hours before a supporter of former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders fired at Republican members of Congress at a baseball practice, seriously injuring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others before U.S. Capitol Police took down the assailant, talk-radio host and author Michael Savage warned of violence by “marginal” people who are set to explode and “kill somebody.”

Savage, the host of the nationally syndicated “The Savage Nation,” was commenting on recent developments that have escalated the anti-Trump “resistance,” such as comedian Kathy Griffin’s ISIS-style photo shoot of the decapitated likeness of Trump and the “Julius Caesar” play in Central Park featuring the assassination of a Trump-like figure.

Michael Savage

“I don’t know how much more of this the country can take,” Savage said.

“We are at a boiling point. There’s going to be a civil war,” he told his listeners Tuesday.

The suspect in the shooting Wednesday, James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, campaigned for Sanders and belonged to a number of anti-Republican groups, including one called “Terminate the Republican Party.”

In comments prepared for his afternoon show Wednesday, Savage criticized President Trump’s reaction to the shooting, contending he lost an opportunity to “take control” of the narrative. And he pinned blame for the attack on Sanders, contending the Vermont senator “stoked hate against Republicans and the rich.”

The day before the attack, Savage told his listeners: “If they keep this up, I’m telling you there’s going to be an explosion in this country.”

Things have to get way, way more out of control before the concept of Civil War becomes even a realistic possibility. Not saying it won't eventually go there, but we are no where near that point.

More Savage:

He noted that nothing had been done to stop the Central Park play, “when it’s clearly illegal to assassinate a president, even in a mock way.”

“Do you understand that there are people out there who are marginal, who are going to go off like a rocket and kill somebody?” Savage asked.

“Do you understand what this left-wing is becoming in this country?”

Talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh also predicted on his show yesterday that “at some point,” the extreme Trump resisters “are gonna crack, and they’re not gonna just start cutting heads off of dolls, and they’re not gonna just start using fake knives to stab people at Central Park.”

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who was on the field practicing with his colleagues early Wednesday morning, commented that without the Capitol Police officers assigned to Scalise, “it would have been a massacre.”

‘It’s going to get worse’

In the opening monologue prepared for his show at noon Eastern Time Wednesday, Savage said many people “think predicting things like I did yesterday is just talk; well it’s not.”

“I know what’s coming, and it’s going to get worse,” he said, pointing to his 2014 book, “Stop the Coming Civil War.”

Savage said that in the book’s first chapter, he shows how former first lady Michelle Obama, former Attorney General Eric Holder and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi were “inciting the division of classes at commencement speeches.”

He writes, on pages 4 and 5 of the book: “Why would these people put forth the message of class and racial division to graduating college seniors on the same weekend, with Pelosi further telling her audience to go out and become disruptors? Why do they do it? I’m telling you they’re setting the stage for more confrontations between citizens of the United States and their government.”

On page 252 of the book, he writes: “Not since the run-up to the Civil War has the nation been more divided. The battle lines have been drawn: The haves against the have-nots. The illegal aliens against hard working middle-class families. Liberals who hate the second amendment versus lawful gun owners. Climate activists whose policies cause forest fires and exacerbate drought against those who understand that the effect on human activity is negligible. Anti-Christian Communist educators against God fearing families. Republicrats against Patriots.”

Savage said in his monologue Wednesday that all the rhetoric about Trump is about keeping the president “from accomplishing an agenda that is dismantling everything Obama put in place.”

“What do the Dems do right away? Jump on gun control,” he said, referring to Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s remarks at the scene of the attack Wednesday.

“It’s almost Pavlovian. Someone gets shot and they want to grab guns. This is more than that. This blood is on their hands,” Savage said.

I don't see it as "conservatives vs. Lefties/socialists". The conservative side does NOT want violence and a civil war. We want the Lefties to STOP WHAT THEY ARE DOING! The Lefty side however intends "winning at all costs"... which includes bloodshed. Things are not "boiling over" so far, but violence and hate have a way of escalating unless someone puts a stop to it. (I was hoping the Left would accept their fate of a Trump presidency after a bit and things would settle down. Doesn't appear to be the case.)

The Lefty population in the US has become "the enemy in our midsts".

:(

Liberals tell Conservatives what they must do and cannot do. Conservatives generally want to be left alone and free to do what they want. This is a general categorization. There are some social conservatives that try to tell people what to do - like saying gay marriage should be illegal. What right do they have to tell others who to be happy with?

This is why the Libertarian viewpoint is so attractive to me (today's Libertarian perspective, not some piezoe 18th century bullshit). It basically is the philosophy of "do whatever you want, so long as it does not affect me". Want to smoke pot? Go right ahead. I don't have a problem with it. Want to smoke pot and drive a school bus? Big problem. Smoke pot and claim government welfare? Big problem.

Want to marry someone from the same sex? Go right ahead. Want to teach that to my children? Big problem.

This is the main, overarching problem I have with the left. They're always inserting their views and their rules into my life. Fuck off already. Do what you want, but stop telling me what I should be doing.

Here is the problem. From my sampling of media, I don't really see any recognition by democrats and the media that they have created this situation where a man thinks it is a good idea to gun down a group of republican congressmen. Indeed, their immediate reaction was to go to gun control. Their fallback position seemed to be that "both sides" need to tone down the rhetoric. Of course the real crazies blame it all on Trump and his "divisiveness", ie not agreeing with their radical concepts of open borders, etc.

So we have a situation where the left, through its control of media, academia, the judiciary and our larger cities have tacitly encouraged political violence. First, against conservative speakers on campus, then against Trump supporters at rallies, finally against "neo Nazis", which seems to include anyone to the right of Hillary. Of course, they are careful not to come right out and say "go commit violence", but they send the signals, they tell the police to back off unless their thugs are getting the worst of it and they don't prosecute those responsible.

The networks and entertainment barons have tolerated truly outrageous antics that need not be repeated. We all know Colbert would have been fired immediately if he had made cracks about Obama like he did about Trump, so they too are tacitly encouraging a poisonous environment.

TT is of course correct that an all-out civil war is not on this week's agenda, but I disagree that it is unthinkable, even in the relatively short term. We have a group of unstable leftwing losers who have been brainwashed to blame every disappointment in their lives on republicans and in particular Trump. We have a group of patriotic Americans who are sick of where their country is heading and appalled at the tactics used by the democrats and media. We have a weaponized media which somehow got their own special counsel appointed, who seems to see his mission as bringing down the hated Trump.

This is not a stable situation. If the establishment do make a move to get rid of Trump, one word from him and an awful lot of people are prepared to take matters into their own hands.

This is the main, overarching problem I have with the left. They're always inserting their views and their rules into my life. Fuck off already. Do what you want, but stop telling me what I should be doing.

Never Happen!

The Left wants power and control over EVERY aspect of everyone's life.

Lefty = Socialists, Progressives, Communists, Marxists, Nazis.... including the American Democrat party... all flavors and cousins of the same basic philosophy. They are the enemy of everything America was intended to be.

:(

Tipping points are sometimes difficult to identify in real time, but once they're past there is no stopping the momentum. No doubt future historians will be able to pinpoint this tipping point and ask, what the hell were they thinking?

Never Happen!

The Left wants power and control over EVERY aspect of everyone's life.

:(

Obviously that will not work. One of two things will happen. Either the left will get be able to get what they want politically, in which case the right will push back violently when enough is enough, or the right will prevent the left from getting what it wants politically and the left will continue to have fringe groups that are causing all sorts of stupid violence. But that won't lead to a civil war because enough people don't think like the kooks.
