How did I get this started? Shame on me 
It helps to have it that's for sure won't argue with that.
Happiness though is a feeling that comes from the inside. It can be generated purely by your thoughts and perceptions of the world.
The thing I've noticed is really happy people tend to attract money--while people who are really unhappy repel it.
It is possible to be happy and broke and it is possible to be rich and unhappy.

This was probably true a century ago. Nowadays, most people wont question the normative concepts they grew up with. You are judged for what you own, not what you are.
Some can dissociate their "thoughts and perceptions of the world" from the mainstream view, but those who will judge them wont.
So being broke results in unhappiness. One might not resent being poor, but he will resent the reaction of a society he failed to integrate. Humans are social animals unfortunately.

nobody likes being poor. poverty is not a desirable condition. but it is a reality in life, at least a temporary one, at least for some. sometimes people who are not poor can help relieve the suffering of those who are.

You are describing everyone but what only some people do. I do NOT judge people by what they own. In fact, I look down on plenty of people who have money if they are ignorant and shallow (by no means are all wealthy people this way of course). I have a great deal of respect, meanwhile, for plenty of poor people who have good principles, are hard working and are reasonable. I have worked years in food service and have seen plenty of the latter. And no, I know that I am not alone. Perhaps in Beverly Hills, the Hampton or some other such areas people tend to judge more on superficial grounds, but even in my home town people do not. Not only that, but you assume the people that judge are better off than the other person who may not have wealth. Yet if someone grows up in a working class neighborhood, for example, and there is a tight nit community and this person has plenty of friends, do you think he really cares if a wealthier person across town is looking down on him (which may not even be the case, in all fairness to the wealthier person). I am beginning to wonder if some people are telling us more about them than they are about what they believe is the way of society!
Possible. However, I think a lot of people look down on the poor because those who do it simply need someone to look down upon. Regardless of the criteria, some people always need to look down on many others so that they feel superior and that much better about themselves.
Don't misunderstand me please. I do believe there are people to be looked down upon frankly. But NOT for SUPERFICIAL reasons. If I look down on someone, it is for the content of his or her character. As a matter of fact, among those I look down on is those wealthy people who would look down on the poor (and I know plenty of wealthy people who DON'T do that).
