That is a very salient point. The liberals of the 1960's would be aghast at what has been lobbied for "in their name". Liberalism has become synonymous with fascism in recent years. This current administration makes Nixon look like child's play, yet they look the other way on every single issue. Have you ever heard Futurecurrents, Ricter, kurt2k2, dbphoenix, covertibility or some of the other jackwagons make ONE critique of this administration?

Same goes for the radical right. They are not true conservatives. The radical elements have hi-jacked both parties, hence the tyranny of the few.

You better be careful as some of the more left leaning people here will accuse you of breaking bread with the devil himself. It is and always has been my belief that most of us have more in common than not, and what we disagree on can be solved in a sensible manner. The radical elements don't want that as it interferes with their need to have a perpetual campaign issue. I have no dog in the political hunt. I'm pretty much disgusted with them all. Somehow, some way, we the people have to find a way to solve this mess ourselves. Frankly, I'm not optimistic, but hey, it's a new year. Who knows.

I think this statement applies globally, regardless of the culture. We all have far more in common with each other than not. However, the extreme leading elements likes to rile up the masses and set us against each other. I'll use the newly building cold war with Russia as an example. Despite our issues with Putin, and despite his high support from the people of Russia, we have a great deal in common with the people of Russia and with their(our) values.

This is my concept of liberalism. I choose to embrace all people, regardless of their race, culture, gender, sexual preference or political and religious beliefs. I believe strongly that we all have a great deal in common with one another and we need to resist the extreme elements that set us against each other.

I will say only that the trend to overly sexualize our already sexualized children, is not a positive trend.
