Anyone buying Vista?

Vista is pretty neat. Lots of upgraded features. All software works. People that say that their software does not work are just troublemakers. Vista has the same infrastructure as XP. It did not change. It just looks different with different icons and some things are changed such as the control panel and the start menu. But everything else is the same.
 
My laptop is still fairly new (9/06) and the desktop while old (7/04) gets very little use. Absolutley no incentive for me to get Vista. Sure, the laptop has the memory for it, but I'm not having any issues with XP Pro. I'm hoping Vista's replacement will coincide with my need/desire for a new laptop in about 3 years. New OS's are becoming like new auto models, yeah it looks nicer but is it really neccessary?

You have no idea. Maybe all "your" software worked, but I personally worked with a couple companies to find work-arounds to get their software compatable. And I know personally a few others still working on their products to correct the audio video issues - which are "known bugs" by microsoft. This is not legacy software problems. It's real, a real PITA.

Bill must be feeling really happy that at least 1 customer had a success rate of 1 program working. Out of how many programs one may ask . 99 perhaps or are you a bit of a small end user ?
Easily satisfied perhaps, with a woefully short service ?
 
Plan on buying new systems late this summer. Unfortunately, they'll all come preinstalled with 32bit Vista Ultimate.

Too bad Linux doesn't run anything useful for trading.

However, Vista 32bit compatibility mode seems to run most "legacy" software.
 
I installed Windows Vista in one of my machines recently and it's performing well. It also runs Tradestation platform flawlessly, so no real complaints here.

Until it explodes of course :)

Can you list the programs that did and did not work? I think it would be very helpful to share that information.

Here is a really good 3 part series written by Mark Russinovich on some "under the covers" changes in Vista, its not all cosmetic:
