Anyone buying Vista?

I seem to recall that when Vista was first announced, it was to include some sort of "database filesystem" which would be the successor to NTFS. Furthermore this was to be its killer feature, allowing arbitrary searches through anything stored on the PC. If done well this could indeed have been a killer feature.
This was dropped as it was too difficult. From the users point of view, it seems there is no new killer feature. There is claimed to be a better security model which is yet to be verified, some new eye candy which some users might perceive as a benefit and a whole lot of DRM stuff which might be in the perceived interest of big media companies but is very hard to justify as being in the interest of the user.
So what do users get for their money ?

As far as I can remember, they dumped the new file system simply because they need to rewrite things all over again.
When they first announced Windows Longhorn, it's a totally new OS with a new source code (as in they built it from scratch) but along the way it's not viable anymore (mainly compatibility problem, deadlines, etc) and they decided to take Win2000 base code and work things up from there. Pretty much like XP don't you think?

I think this was announced at the time Google surprised everyone with the desktop search thingy that suddenly made things a lot easier. Ppl gasped, why wasn't this available before?
As usual no actual innovations come from M$ at all. And when some other bright company comes up with a novelty they suddenly do a 180 and pronounce the importance of this new feature in their coming release.
Never has M$ given anything new to the clients, only under pressure from the competition will they rethink their product. To me it's proof of (partial) failure of capitalism in this age that so much money can be made without really serving a purpose and instead delivering garbage for a slong as possible. Vista will slow down technical and economic development, for individual companies and for society as a whole.
