Anyone buying Vista?

Quote from nkhoi:

A Mac user switches to Vista

...And then it hit me, the reason why I switched from Mac to Windows Vista. Because it is new. Because I am naturally curious about most things tech, and not only because it’s my job. Because I believe in second chances. And thirds and fourths and fifths. For sure, I’m enormously impressed with Windows Vista to the point of respecting it as a choice for friends and family if they so choose.

But I really miss that peaceful, Zen-like quiet I felt with my Mac when I’d wake it up or put it instantly to sleep. For me, it just works right, without really having to think about it.

So I decided to switch again. From Vista, back to the Mac — to the brand new, white MacBook on which I told this story.....
And so the War is on - ad infinitum, you can be sure.

Look for Apple to be coming out with its updated OS and hardware by late-June, possibly earlier.

after upgrading..........then dumping windows ME several years ago...........i am not switching to vista until i absolutely have to....

Vista is mostly about gaming... DirectX 10 and eye candy... and for THAT we all have to be significantly inconvenienced and shell-out $Thousands?

Hopefully enough users will say... "UP YOURS, MICROSOFT!" ... and they will respond by adjusting their business plan.

Personally, I'm staying with XP Pro until it's no longer possible... at least 2015.
Yes, we will too, for several years at least. In the meantime our Linux fleet will get more attention (didn't need any these years) and maybe a serious look at Mac. I think we won't make it to Vista....

Ursa..

Looks like I will not be upgrading to Vista, instead I will probably put that money into the new Intel chip coming out later this year.

Ha !

Did I just here correctly?

They spent 6 billion dollars on development. :p

Oh.. that's a riot. Reviewers are saying it's mostly eye-candy, and not even worth spending the money to upgrade from XP. :p

Support OpenSource :)

Fortune Magazine has this Vista article with review. The bottom line seems to be coming up pretty much the same for most Microsoft hype and wait-weary PC users.

Be sure to hit all of the story links. Dell and Mac OS afficionados will learn/recall a distinct possibility for the not-to-distant future likely to come about from consumer and possibly business pressure...

gnome, you reading this? :)

Does anyone know how long I will still be able to get XP Pro? Let's just say I don't have my copy any more and I may to get one before I can no longer get one.

Both retail and OEM copies of XP Pro should be available for at least a year... then probably much longer on eBay.
