Any Virtual private server you can recommend ?

I have an OVH starter VPS that costs 4.2$ per month but I don't use it for trading purposes and it looks like they don't offer near exchanges locations.

Depends what you need.

hi,

I dont run any automated stuff , just want to have my platform running in the cloud

no servers in Europe ?

I would run around 6 Metatraders
You should ask your broker. Done this myself. They have the best with minimal latency VPS servers for rent. It is done over MQL for payment and you can click and activate on Metatrader it self. Usually they can give you the best offer, meant trading with that broker you are using. For example it is much less than 1 ms with my broker VPS. It is just 0.7 ms. You cannot get it better. You will save a lot of money on better executions with minimal latency VPS. Every millisecond does count here in terms of less slippage. It gets more important if you are momentum or breakout trader. Also on stoploss you should see a difference in spending less money when hit. Using a good VPS is very good decision at all. My view.

We only offer servers in Chicago and New York.

What broker are you connected to?
Trading forex I assume?

You can easily run 6 terminals on our Pro plan.

The free VPS services that brokers offer tend to be rather slow.

You can see here, you are only offered 2 CPU cores and 3GB RAM.

I am not sure if you'd be happy with this setup running 6 MetaTrader terminals, but it's definitely worth a shot if they are providing the service free of cost.

Okay, so I have a noob question.

When you place an order, it first goes to your broker, doesn't it? Then it gets transmitted to the exchange, right?

Suppose your broker is in, say, Texas (or somewhere far from Chicago). What difference does it make then whether the VPS is right next door to CME or not? You would still need to route the order to Texas first, dontcha?

Not a noob question, that’s why we offer two data center locations (Chicago & New York).

Most trading platforms/brokers like NinjaTrader, IBKR, and Lightspeed strategically place their servers as close as possible to the exchanges… mainly in Chicago, New York/New Jersey, and Connecticut. This allows for their customers to achieve best execution.

If the broker had their server in Texas, then you wouldn’t benefit from reduced latency. However, it’s important note, the 24/7 uptime we provide is a HUGE benefit, no matter the geographic situation.
