Any suggestion for an IP anonimyzer?

I am a hair stylist and web anonymity is trivial for me. I just use a laptop with no personal data in it and I drive to a hot spot. I stay in my car, I send my messages with an email address I sign for at that time and I surf around to anywhere I want. Then I use ccleaner to clean everyting or I even reformat my hard drive.

I am just a hair stylist...

Why would a truly anonymous IP service keep the logs? I think I read about some services that claim to erase or not keep the logs, but I don't know if I remember that correctly. Anyone shine some light on this? [/QUOTE

Ya, Connect to a VPN service overseas....VPNs that host in sweden are usually good. That is what all the big bit torrent guys use. The ones that use IPSec of L2TP have the best security. Also, most of them state they don't keep logs or records of their customers. anonine.com and ipredator.com are 2 off the top of my head.

Some even go as far as to only pay in cash. (Note, there is some people that believe the virus/malware/hackers use these cash type services so they may be shut down at some point by a govt agency, just opinion for the most part)

In case you dont know, basically, the traffic is encrypted to/from your computer and your ISP has no idea whats going on. You get an IP from somewhere in sweden so it looks like the computer is based in sweden. The only thing you have to worry about is the company overseas keeping logs or telling the truth (that they aren't keeping logs)

If you are ultra paranoid, add this to the Tor network and the I2P network and that is as anonymous as it gets. Note using either the Tor or I2P are drastically slower than just the VPN b/c you are connecting through peers.

You need a bit of computer savvy to add the TOR and even more for the I2P but its not rocket science. Plenty of howto's on google.

Yet, your ISP can record the traffic and send it for decryption. If it is 128K based your whole information will be available in a few hours to anyone who wants to look at it. Worse, someone can plug a device in your cable or intercept your WiFi and do the same. Actually, some 15 years old kids can do that.

No governemnt allows services to offer more than 128K ebcryption and you have heard I hope the problems RIM has with many countries.

This means that you should also encrypt any email messages on top of the encryption offered by the service, which is more of a marketing line.

While were at it, sometimes there will be a list of 50 emails posted on the web of people/organizations who share similar interests.

But the list is usually given without commas between the addresses. So, you can't just cut and paste the list. I've contacted the sites that do this, but they're not selling anything, so they don't respond.

Is there a function in Gmail or something to insert the commas?

Not true...with openvpn you can get up 256 bit encryption through various standards. Even if you only have 128 bit encryption, if you passkey is long/strong enough, even if your ISP logged your data it would take them YEARS to figure it out. Unless you are doing something big time illegal or something to catch the eye of the secret service they might start watching you. I don't think they are going to take the effort. They would be better off doing a man in the middle attack, which, Im no lawyer, but pretty sure would be illegal for them to do.

Not true....

Listen, I do not like clowns.

A. can your ISP, or any ISP, record your traffic? Answer: Yes. Actually, they are required by law in many countries to do it and keep the records for 5 years.

B. Can they decrypt it? The answer is Yes. Actually, it is trivial for up to 256K.

The rest is typical BS. The issue is whether these services are trully anonymous. The answer is not. The answer should not depend on whether they have the time or willing to find out. Do you understand the difference or you are a complete clown?

Are you guys using any software to hide your IP address while surfing?

Would you give me some idea on which is the best one?

Thanks a lot. :)

Unless the software is made by Ivanovich its not worth a shit.

:) :D :D :D
