That's my concern too.
I actually thought about the "surrender" issue considering he mention the word "lawyers" during the interview as in plural as if he may have talked to several lawyers about the self-defense issue.
Then again, the police may have waited for a few days to give himself that chance to turn himself into law enforcement in Lacey, Washington that he resided in even though he's originally from the Portland, Oregon area.
The police may have then made a decision this guy had no intentions of turning himself into law enforcement...they then decided to go get him with the knowledge of his prior recent arrests.
My next door neighbour (best friend) is law enforcement (Sheriff) and former SWAT team member also a pheasant hunting pal...he mention once to me several years ago that sometimes they may view someone as extremely dangerous and they know there's weapons in the person vehicle.
They then wait until that person exits their home and tries to enter their vehicle or allow the person to start driving just before they close off the exit into any nearby areas before trying to take him down. I asked...why not just kick in the person's home door and arrest the person
prior to allowing the person to go outside to a vehicle ?
He responded, its a
justifiable shooting if you just wait for the person to approach their vehicle that they know has weapons and there's less chance of a hostage situation because sometimes they don't get the green light to take someone down when they kick in the door versus taking someone down outside next to their vehicle that contains weapons.
Anyways, if he had a lawyer and was planning to turn himself in...the lawyer should have been smart enough to contact law enforcement and then tell that he's bringing in the suspect...
That could have prevented his death had he been in contact with a lawyer to facilitate his surrender.
Regardless, Reinoehl had followed Aaron Danielson from some nearby garage area in Portland after the Danielson calmly walked by him and then shot the guy because he attempted to spray him or his friend with "bear spray". Reminds me of the situation of Rittenhouse shooting dead two people that were chasing him with Skateboards.
- Strangely, Reinoehl taught snowboarding and was also a Skateboarder too.
Portland has always been a hot bed for radicals on both sides of the coin considering its one of those states with open gun laws. I know a few ex special forces guys that have settle down in Oregon area solely because of the open gun laws and the nearby Olympic National Forest...a place I go winter hiking / winter camping once per year just to get off the grid for a few weeks.
People in the U.S are stressed, unemployed, divided and the first signs of that was the issue about "face mask wearing" in a Pandemic that the U.S. President made such a
political issue as if he had a private civil war.
Protesting, civil unrest on both sides is natural outcome when all other peaceful ways has been diminished. The President rolled the dice and hopes his division would put more people on his side but so far...that's not working on many fronts especially with the military.
This is
chaos that Trump created on his watch. Essentially, he's trying to destroy America on his way out the door while having a temper tantrum setting up a situation that there will
not be a
"peaceful transition of power" when its time for him to leave office after being voted out.
