Senator Thom Tillis also stands out in the OpenSecrets.org list. According to calculations, he received $5,611,796 in (in)direct campaign support. Today, according to news site Politico, he said he wants to reopen talks on gun safety legislation.
There are also four senators who received more than $1 million in direct NRA support, according to OpenSecrets.org, but have not yet made a public statement about the Texas shooting. Those are Richard Burr ($6,987,380), Roy Blunt ($4,555,722), Josh Hawley ($1,391,548) and French Hill ($1,097,748).
OpenSecrets.org has been collecting data on NRA support since 1989. This concerns direct monetary support from the gun lobby organization to the politician, donations to so-called Super PACs that can campaign for the politician, but also money donated to campaign against the opponent of the named politician during elections. This is then deducted from the amounts spent by the NRA to support an opponent of the politician during elections, whether or not via Super PACs. The full figures in detail can be found in the OpenSecrets.org spreadsheet.
