As it is relevant to this discussion and for anyone else, the account was made in the context of warning US guys who have never so much as missed a meal in their lives, to be careful of thinking the US becoming a place where a man has his gun for strength is better.
There is no taking a "time out" when you are not liking how events unfold and saying oh, but the law! Once a society gives up hard won high minded ideals it is a tough gig. Still, there are rules of behavior everyone knows. This is why I kept his shorts on as this was about shock, not damage.
Had I taken his gun away, he would have decided to take it back, probably with the group drinking with him. On the edge of town in Zambia.
He had pointed it in the face of several people that night. He was not a local (that really matters) and had more than crossed the line. So he would have been stabbed or slashed with a machete on leaving the bar. That was a certainty.
Making him a figure of ridicule saved him a far worse punishment and diffused the situation.
A very minor event of scores and scores over the four years I worked in anti-poaching.

If someone pulls a gun on you for no reason and you get the upper hand on them, anything that doesn't result in the death of the guy who pulled it is mercy.
This is the politics section and you have a few types at the moment.
a. Can trade, hate Trump's face from over-exposure having to see it the news all day for the job.
