Analysis of Christopher Hitchen's argument against God

Quote from LORD KAL-EL:

While it's been mildly entertaining to destroy the arguments of fools (stu , kts) it's inevitable that virtually anything is more productive use of my time at some point...
How unfortunate that you're not smarter than you are. If you were, then maybe you would at least be able to recognize just how much you were embarrassing yourself. But don't despair, we're here to bear witness.

"You asked me if I know. I said Sure I know.
Then you asked me for evidence about my knowledge.
I make no claims about my knowledge."

Person A ask Person B, do you know?

Person B says, sure I know.

Person A then says, so you know.

Person B then says, I never made a claim....err...uhhhhh....oooops...our beliefs are not beliefs...geez...I never claimed to know, you know, just said I know, I make no claims about my knowedge...opps, I just said my knowledge....shoooooot....but I am not claiming that my knowledge is knowing anything....I am just saying I have knowledge because I don't know...I mean, I don't have certainty....darn....darn...darn...Yes I am now certain that I do have knowledge, and my knowledge is without certainty, therefore it is knowledge based on uncertainty...my own uncertainty....no that can't be right...it must be based on my certainty that my own uncertainty is actually knowledge....oh hell...at least that's what I believe...darn, darn, darn...but I am without beliefs, but I am certain of that, I have knowledge that I don't know, therefore I am knowledgeable...my knowledge is true...but I'm not certain, and I am making no claims that my knowledge is true...but it isn't an opinion...because I don't hold my own knowledge to be true or false, shit I don't know...but it isn't any belief or opinion of mine, I call this knowledge...at least that's what I'm claiming.

Yeah, that's the ticket...

"we're here to bear witness."

Another comment from the we collective...

Wee, wee, wee...all the way home.

Yeah, that's the ticket...

lack of belief is not a belief. like baldness is not a hair color.

you, on the other hand, feel you have a firm belief but upon examination, it's not much of a belief at all, hardly even rises to the standard of a belief. you have a vague notion..nothing more.

How fascinating that you should come to the defense of a poster whose opinions and judgment, as well as his general ability to comprehend, you clearly do not respect on any and all matters political. Well, this just in: he didn't suddenly become lucid and insightful when he switched topics to religion. He is still the same doofus. The only change is one of topic. The doofus remains the same. And yet here you are, defending that very doofus and, implicitly, his ability to opine, judge and comprehend. Fascinating indeed.

So you believe a lack of belief is not a belief...

Righteous!!!

Funny though, because if someone says "I believe X exists" and then someone responds by saying, "I have knowledge that X doesn't exist...but it is not my belief, it is my knowledge, I'm not making a claim, I am just saying I know."

Since when did lack of information produce knowledge?

Fallacy of a false dilemma. I am not defending anyone. I am questioning the logic of one person, but not defending anyone else.

I can attack the logic and or argument of a poster without attacking the overall ability of the poster to be reasonable, and with no intention to defend anyone else.

Also, I am not coming to anyone's defense by illustrating and attacking the way in people go to ridiculous lengths in order to defend and backtrack their own confusing comments.

Classic example of the fallacy of a false dilemma:

"You are either with us, or you are with the terrorists."

False. I could be with neither, or I could be with both.

I'm not on anyone's side, I'm on my own side...which may coincide with someone else, but that doesn't make me on their side...as I stay on my side only.

This is not an US vs. Them deal to me at all.

You have NO God proposition or argument at all. Don't you see this? Your hopelessly lost in your tautology "Totality = God". You haven't proven your premise, what am i just to assume it's true?

Uh-huh, sure. However, his arguments for religion and god are about as compelling as his political diatribes. Not to mention the "depth." A 5-watt bulb remains a 5-watt bulb, regardless of which room it may be in. Of course, you would admit this if you did not have an axe to grind. The guy is a moron. It is not merely a matter of disagreeing with someone. The man is stupid and he proves it daily. And here you are defending him because he shares your beliefs. No doubt, it must make you feel warm all over having someone of his wattage in your court, lending all manner of credence to your position.

As for me, should I ever find myself on the same side of an argument as a Clown College dropout, it will likely give me a moment or two of pause.

I have defined God as the Totality.

Totality exists.

Therefore, God exists.

Everything begins with a definition, and I've defined God, and shown that God exists.

Is my definition of God correct?

I've not claimed that the definition is correct or incorrect. I have not said I have knowledge, or used any phrase like "my knowledge."

I believe God exists, I have no problem with saying that. You have my definition.

You have your beliefs in response to what I have said.

So you are not without beliefs.
