Don't know for sure, but probably no.
Tax rules were changed a few years ago to limit "itemized deductions" to the point that it's just easier to take the "standard deduction". I suppose some find a way around that, but I suspect they are few in number/percentage.
I don't know the veracity of this $3b/week figure, but this is one of the best uses of my tax dollars I have seen in a long time. Send MORE!
$3B/week is ridiculously exaggerated. About $11B in the last 6 months. And I fully agree with you.
That money could have bought a lot of infrastructure here in the US. Getting Russia to leave Ukraine is easy. Remove the CCP's support for Russia (and India second). Stop trading with any country that trades with Russia. Cut them off from the rest of the world and Russia will quickly fold. The problem is that we're not in a position to do that. We have become far too dependent on China.
Well we are dependent on China because we want cheap stuff.

Who wants cheap stuff? Corporations try to squeeze out as much profit as possible. They seek the lowest cost possible even if it's not sustainable. At Walmart, most people buy made in China if it's cheaper. But the average person would probably pay a bit more for an iPhone in exchange for more jobs in the US leading to higher wages. Standard of living was higher in the US before we became dependent on China. One man used to be able to support a family of 4 on a single wage, no college education, and have enough money left over for vacations. It's still possible to do that, but not as easy. Even if the CCP was friendly towards the US and other countries, no country should be running the horrific trade deficits that the US currently runs. Once you export labor, it doesn't come back. The country has lost manufacturing skill that went with those jobs. Yes, we want cheap stuff, but China got much stronger at our expense and like fools, we allowed it to happen.
The average person would *say* he would. But when faced with two products of the same type, one cheaper than the other, of the same level of quality, he'd go for the cheaper one. I very rarely look at the "made in" of what I buy. I am sure I am not alone in that.
