The average person would *say* he would. But when faced with two products of the same type, one cheaper than the other, of the same level of quality, he'd go for the cheaper one. I very rarely look at the "made in" of what I buy. I am sure I am not alone in that.
Most people would because they think the decision is simply buy the cheaper one or pay more. They don't appreciate the cost to the country in terms of trade deficit and trading away manufacturing capability. It's not just jobs that leave the country, but also skill. Admittedly, in many cases it's not even possible to find a made in US alternative. The trend we're on is not sustainable.

Our massive trade imbalance and decade's long transfer of manufacturing skill to China has put China in a position where they can support Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Without China's support, Russia would not have invaded Ukraine. China would not have supported Russia if they believe the rest of the world would isolate them. They know we are dependent on them. At the same time, Europe should not have put themselves in a position where they are dependent on Russia for energy. Very stupid, short-sighted policy results in bad situations.
