The lady of the house exasperated with her maid working REALLY slow asked the maid “do you do anything fast?” The maid answered.."’yes I get tired REALLY FAST”.
Sir... devoting 2 years to trading is nothing. A body cannot learn and put into practice the most rudimentary aspects of trading in two years. A person cannot even get a good enough grasp of trading knowledge, much less put it into practice, within two years. There are simply too many strategies and tactics to learn, and it takes time to find what works for you as a trader.
You sir have gotten tired REALLY fast...
Being a coder and scientist has probably “slowed” you down not speeded up the process. Trading is all about learning to survive and develop strategies and tactics in a gray fog of uncertainty that win enough to make one profitable. Trading is uncertain..will always be uncertain..can never be nailed down exactly..simply because there are too many variables. Some variables are known. Others are unknown. Others cannot be known because they have yet to be invented or to even arrive on the scene.
Take your computer programming books and store them away in a locked trunk. Toss your scientific mindset in the kitchen garbage can to never be retrieved again for use in the trading world.
Then observe price and how it moves ...don’t worry about why. (But I will let you in on a secret..it moves because institutions move it..) Learn how they move the markets...how..not why...the chart will show you all you need to know. Turn the tv off ..don’t listen to the pundits...who make calls on tv...don’t watch the news nor worry about how news moves the prices. If it does it will ALWAYS show up in the chart. Learn “how” the market moves. Remember the institutions cannot hide what they do. Learn the charts. All you need to know is right there in the charts to be seen by all.
Once you learn all that well then opened the locked trunk, if you must, and dig out your coding books and try coding a few things based up what you have learned.
Best wishes, you will be back. Two years is enough for the “bug” to bite you. You will not be able to walk away and quit...no sir..not yet. But two years is not enough to learn diddly squat.
