all things CRUZ

There are two main kinds of college debating programs. One focusses on a single topic every year, and the other, Cruz and Panton’s specialty, is known as parliamentary debate. “In parliamentary debate, they don’t give you the subjects in advance. You just have to be fast on your feet and know a lot about a lot of different subjects,” Panton said. “Ted was the best debater in the country, hands down. He was the No. 1 debater our senior year.”

Good read.

Cruz “was an outstanding student in my class,” Dershowitz said. “Without a doubt he is among the smartest students I’ve ever had… I’ve had great students but he has to be at the top of anyone’s short list, in terms of raw brain power.”

Is Cruz the smartest and most qualified of all the Republican Presidential candidates?

Sorry pal, I don't think the opinion of some college professor really makes you qualified to be President. Nice try though.

Granted, but this guy has been an ardent student of the Constitution since his teenage yrs. His credentials are significant and impeccable. He's worth a listen.

Isn't Obama a "constitutional scholar". Just sayin'. As we've seen time and again, political ideology trumps, (no pun intended), intellect every single time. Not saying that Cruz isn't worth a look, but his knowledge of the constitution is meaningless. They all use it as silly putty to justify whatever fits their personal view. Yes, I'm saying at this stage of the game, our constitution has become meaningless. It's used and abused every single day at every level of government, the press, and every other nitwit with an ax to grind.

What's really necessary in a POTUS... (1) respect for the constraints of the US Constitution, and (2) willingness to "do what's right" for America. (Both of which should have eliminated Odumbo, but did not... sadly.)

Might argue well for Trump as President.

There is only one small problem with Cruz. He's about as conservative as a goddamn conservative can be. IOW.....he sucks.
ya, he does lean to the right. :p

Why is he and guys like him so conservative...IE attached to keeping the status quo? To quote Dylan, "The times they are a-changing". We need new effective solutions to NEW problems. Old notions may no longer work or remain valid.

What is this love affair with constraints and an old out of date and inadequate to begin with piece of paper? I don't get it.

Perhaps those who most love it are into constraints and are inadequate themselves (themself?).

I don't want to constrain the use of fossil fuels. But i guess you're right. Only the old and inadequate do.
