If you really don't want God, even if it means hell, He might let you go your own way, forever.
Do you want God? Because you can always talk to Him and tell Him that you don't believe in Him BUT you would rather spend eternity with God than in hell and tell Him what's on your heart. The thing is, I can't determine how God will respond to you, but it would be better to talk to Him about every reason you can't believe in Him and end it with telling Him that you want to be saved by Jesus if you can believe it's true. Kind of like the man that told Jesus, "I believe, help my unbelief."
One thing to keep in mind is that we can easily be deceived by our own hearts. Do you remember the story of Cain and Abel? Cain did not follow God's prescribed way of worshiping Him, Cain brought plants as an offering, and God required an animal sacrifice. God even talked to him about it, instructing him to do what was right and Cain still did his own thing. How does one do that? How does one attempt to worship God, yet not even do what God asks?
Many people say they have prayed to God and He hasn't answered them, but they haven't submitted themselves to the revelation of God in the Scriptures.
That's the problem with cults as well. They say they are worshiping God, but there is always something they are believing or doing that is not in accordance with the Scriptures and so they are deceived thinking they are worshiping God whereas they are really worshiping their own invention of God.
You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me;
John 5:39 Amplified Bible
