My favourite bible verse...
"Pride goes before a fall".
I think of this verse very regularly, and it mostly applies to me, when I think I'm good at something because of my own merits, often what I think I'm good at soon after
spectacularly fails. In trading, if I think I'm a good trader, often I get a good hiding following very shortly.
Christians can do well to think this, they have through their own merits and efforts found the key to life.

Despite the fact human pens wrote the bible, sinful humans constructed the bible, that the clergy is rife with corruption, satan just can't get a toehold into christianity.
Never mind the fact humans have been made slaves of the church, toiling to build cathedrals which now lay empty, a huge expense for something to sing songs in and preach about hope and eternal life, good for nothing else other than the odd funeral, wedding or baptism.
