Consider this. Doug Wilder was the first and only black Gov elected after Reconstruction. He won in the former capital of the confederacy. At the time, 18% of the population was black. Only about 15% of the elegible voters were black. So, obviously a lot of whites voted for him.
Last week I would have agreed that Obama has no chance, but with the loss on a another "garanteed" seat in MS (that's 3 now), the Republicans are on the ropes. I think the election could be a landside for Obama. McCain is seen as too old and too much of an establishment politician. If Obama picks the right guy for a running mate, I think he wins easily.

SouthAmerica: Al Gore should not endorse any candidate until the Democratic Party convention is over.
If he is not drafted at the convention then it does not matter who he endorses from that point on since John McCain is going to win in November 2008.
The democrats are not smart enough to figure out that the choice for the November 2008 presidential election is between Al Gore and John McCain.
If Al Gore is the Democratic Party nominee - I am sure that he would win the November election with a landslide.
If Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama is the Democratic Party nominee then John McCain will be the presidential election winner in November 2008 - by a close margin.

don't be so sure to count obama out. Mac has the ability to say idiotic things at the worst times possible. polls currently have obama ahead. he is going to have a helluva time in the electoral college, but may get the popular vote.

The Democratic Party is going to nominate Barack Obama and he is going to lose the election in November 2008.
Al Gore can plan to make a political come back in the presidential election of 2012, since he still be young at 64 years old at that time.
In the meantime he will become a zillionaire with his investments on his hedge fund and other investments.
When the general election enters the final stretch in September 2008 I will be supporting Ralph Nader from then onâ¦.and I will try to convince my family and friends to do the same.
The democrat voters from Florida and Michigan can get even with the leaders of the Democratic Party in November 2008 â since they have been disenfranchised during the primaries in the general election they should give their protest vote to Ralph Nader to teach a lesson to the incompetent clowns who are running the Democratic Party today.
These people will not be wasting their vote by voting for Ralph Nader, since Barack Obama is going to lose the election in November 2008 anyway â it is just a matter of trying to minimize the margin of Obamas' defeat.
The good news is that the people on Wall Street can start making their bets right now for the next four years of a John McCain administration and companies such as the Carlyle Group should do very well since they are big investors in defense companies. I am sure that John McCain can find a way to expand the war in the Middle East.
I am glad that we donât have any kids on our family right now at the age that they can be drafted to go to war.
It will be good therapy for John McCain when he gives the order for the US armed forces to bomb some country â any country for that matter â it will feel very good to get even with somebody for the 5 years he spent in Vietnam as a prisoner of war.
He will feel relaxed after getting even with somebody. If he can nuke some country to total annihilation then he would feel even better.
You can bet that the 5 years that he spent as a prisoner of war is alive and well on the back of his mind and just waiting the right opportunity for payback time.

SouthAmerica: The disenfranchised voters from Florida and Michigan should show their disapproval of the Democratic Party decisions regarding these states by giving their protest vote to Ralph Nader.
You will not be wasting your vote in this case since in my opinion Barack Obama does not have a chance to win the general election. John McCain is going to beat Obama in November anyway.
If the disenfranchised democrats from Florida and Michigan donât do that then they deserve to be treated in the same way as the voters are treated in Zimbabwe, in Cuba and in many other 3rd world countries.

Al Gore is not "Secretariat." He is a fat tub of goo who will profiteer from "global warming." His enormous body emits double the CO2 of an average human.

I was using a Metaphor.
Secretariat was an outstanding racing horse. And when he won the triple crown in one of the races he left the other horses on the dust - as a matter of fact when he was reaching the finishing line the other horses where so far behind that you could not see them on the television screen. I never saw another horse beat the entire field the way Secretariat beat the other horses on that special day.
I am not comparing Al Gore with Secretariat based on their physical form as an athlete - I am suggesting Al Gore's performance regarding his race against John McCain and in my opinion, Al Gore could leave John McCain on the dust in a similar fashion as Secretariat did on that special race.
That race has immortalized Secretariat forever.
