Total delegates needed to win the Democratic Party race: 2,025

As of May 8, 2008

Obama = 1,845

Clinton = 1,686


They still have 5 Democratic Party primaries to go in the next 3 weeks and until a candidate cross the finish line – the race is not over.

The super-delegates should wait until the convention to cast their votes if neither candidate reaches the 2,025 delegates needed for the nomination.

There is no dream team here Barak/Hillary or Clinton/Obama – because in both cases Bill Clinton would be the person that most people would believe it is the real puppeteer.

If you go to a meeting and you have Barack Obama and Bill Clinton on the same room whom you rather listen too – the rookie or the ultimate politician?

The race is not over until a candidate reaches the 2,025 delegates finish line.

I can't figure this one out. She is an ultra competitive super bitch, but she has to know she can't win. Maybe the Clintons have some ugly dirt on Obama that they are holding back?

I think it was Dick Morris who said that he firmly beleives she knows the contest is over and has been over but has stayed in it to 1) bloody Obama and 2) make sure he loses to McCain in November and then say " I told you so" and become the slam dunk candidate for the dems in 2012....It makes sense because if Obama wins...she woud be shut out until 2016????? she would be an old lady by then....her window is now

Yeah, I was thinking this also (and have posted about it).

I truly believe she could care less about her party, or even the country. Its all about power. Period.

Given the way the Dems give out delegates, this thing is over. The one wild card was if the Supers thought Barak was too damaged after Wright. Tuesday's elections showed this not to be the case. They will fall in line for Barak now. And they will not wait until the convention. Most of them have already chosen. The rest will choose just after the last primary. There is massive pressure on them from the Party to do so. The LAST thing the party wants is for this to go to convention.

Until Tuesday, there was reason for them to wait. I just don't see this anymore. Nor does just about anyone else.

SA, we all know why you want this to go to convention (keep dreaming), but this won't happen, imo, unless there is still more potential dirt on Obama. He seems to have gotten through the Wright thing fine, on the primary level anyway. He actually gained more votes than predicted. The national vote will be another thing altogether as the Republicans are going to hammer that issue to death, but that's not the purpose of my post. I was just wondering what the Clinton angle was. She is not stupid. She will not get the nomination barring complete disaster in the Obama camp.

Today when I was having diner with my mother and we were watching the news on CNN - she told me that if Hillary Clinton was not running in November 2008 then she was going to stay home on Election Day. And she also told that some of her friends were doing the same.

I was surprised when she told me that, because we never talk about politics.

As soon as the Democratic Party chooses Hillary or Obama as the nominee from that point on I am a supporter of Ralph Nader and many of my friends are doing the same.

At this point I have no idea how Barack Obama is going to win the election in November 2008 – everybody that I talk to that voted for Hillary Clinton on the primary are saying that they will not vote for Barack Obama if he is the Democratic Party nominee.

Most people don’t admit it but I know that they refuse to vote for Barack Obama because he is a black man.

As you mentioned above you know why I want that the race goes all the way to the convention – I have picked my candidate Al Gore long before anybody had announced that they were running for president.

Al Gore still is my candidate until the Democratic Party has an official nominee for the general election.

Anyway, after Barack Obama losses the election in November 2008 a lot of people are going to be pissed at Al Gore because he did not jump into the presidential race, since I am 100 percent sure that he would be the winner in November 2008.

Al Gore was my last hope to turn this country around, but I know that it is getting very late in the game and the United States will continue to be just business as usual as far they can keep this thing going - then it is welcome to 3rd world status and memories of a glorious past and nothing else.

I agree. I don't see how Obama can win, but for a different reason. The electoral map is definitely against him. He may win the popular vote, and lose the election. Florida won't even be in play, and he will prolly lose Ohio also. Maybe Michigan and Wisconsin.

Game over.

Mac is prone to saying stupid shit however, so should be interesting.

I saw Morris on Fox last night hammering home his theory that Hillary just wants to damage Obama so she can be setup for 2012. I can just see the Clinton household on election night rooting for Mac. What a messed up system. BTW, I tend to believe this theory because I can't understand why she is still in this thing otherwise.
 
Uhmmmm........OB will be the nominee and I think it will be REALLLLLL close election..why?

1) By Nov. the economy will be even weaker and mass layoffs will be in full swing....that means an increase in Dem votes

2) By Nov. the amount of forclosures will INCREASE even more because now you have more out of work people...again , more dem votes

3) By Nov. OB will be a favorite of the liberal press and they wll be pushing to see a black man become president in their lifetime

4) McCain loses his temper and does fly off the handle at times......at some point and time either a) he will make what is percieved to be a racist remark or b) they will dig up a joke or off color remark he made in his past

5) The War....McCain is taking the old democrtic way by kind of flip flopping on how strongly he supports it in the past, present and future....OB has been consistent

6) Debates.....Mc is an old DC guy but even though he may win the debates hands down on substance, OB will come away as if he won them in the publics eye...he is a great speaker
 
yeah, I think it will be really close also. Mac can definitely sabotage his own campaign.

I lean on the side of the electoral college, however, which at this point, is an uphill struggle fro OB.

But sure, it could go either way, and who ever wins is going to have a hell of a job in front of him with the economy, war, etc.
