Al Brooks, I apologize..

No and I don't have any illusions about this ever happening, but I've said multiple times now how I were open about my own P&L when I was actively trading and people sought my advice.

The OP claims that Al Brooks has been helpful to his trading, so is it unreasonable to ask if he's making money or not? I don't really care about his P&L, but it would be cool to know if it has actually improved his bottom line or if it is just that he FEELS it has improved his trading abilities.

Guys, please read my first post.. It was an apology letter to Al Brooks.. I never mad any claims at all.. Am I making money? Yes.. Did I make money today ? Yes.. But who cares..I'm not selling nothing.. I'm just a regular guy..

And kudos to you. Not that I'll ask you anything about your trading. And woe be unto any who dare to do so. I'll just take your word for it. :)

(Bet you never imagined that your little acknowledgement of Brooks would garner over a 100 posts . . . )

Yeah, this thread is started by MarketAddict and about his views of Al Brooks trade method. I assumed you were talking about him when you enter this thread...thanks for the clarification.

As to your hypothetical situation for others reading your comments, everybody is different. Thus, such a deal would be attractive to some while not attractive to others...professional and/or personal reasons. Simply, to some there may be a downside.

I've seen folks in many different careers turn down lucrative deals, promotions for many reasons...professionally and personally because there was a downside for them whereas not a downside for someone else.

I'm sure someone with your background has seen such too. My best friend is an institutional trader and he turned down a big promotion that would have required him to leave the country along with uprooting his family (wife and kids...wife has a high paying job herself). He said no to the big promotion because he's devoted to helping take care of his aging sick parents. Thus, 11 out of 10 times his answer would be NO.

Everybody is different.

How can receiving an offer to run money be anything but positive?
You can always say no,as you pointed out...

So let's see, we need resumés, letters of separation, deeds to your properties of course ...

I have no reason to believe you. But I have no reason not to believe you. Its the internet. If you were to start a thread describing how you traded in real estate, only a crank would ask you for deeds, tax returns, evidence of any 1031 exchanges, etc. and so on. I'd take you at your word, and do my own due diligence on your particular approach to re investment before undertaking the same course for myself.

Of course you do,and I understand your paranoia. And you can be dam sure if I started a thread on any form of trading,I would post my results.

Not suspicious enough to actually read the material.

Which brings us full circle: the posted "P&L" is irrelevant; what matters is the trading plan. And how many people have a thoroughly-tested and consistently-profitable trading plan? I know of only two, maybe three. If people ask for your advice without having seen yours, they are pretty much in the same position you were. The fact that you're giving it away doesn't mean that there's no cost to the people following that advice.

"The posted P&L is irrelevant;what matters is the trading plan????

that does not compute..

You'd be one of very few. FWIW, back when I first started here at ET I did post trading plans, charts showing entries and exits, and broker p/l's, etc and guess what - trolls still trolled. No amount of documentation will ever be enough.

Here are a few:

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

Now the trolls call it scribbles, back then they were calling them "kindergarten lines." It is always the same. Those who can do, those who can't just become angry, disbelieving trolls.

There are others if you care to hunt them down. I doubt any of it will help you or anyone else trade better. I doubt it will help you or anyone else feel better about themselves or their prospects. But I posted a fair number of blotters with charts and it got me "no upside." As a matter of fact, it just brought out more trolls. So contrary to what you think, showing what what can in fact do on a trading forum has nothing but downside, imo.

Well that is very disheartening to hear, and I commend you on your efforts.I can not understand why there are posters who would chose to be disrespectful as opposed to appreciative.

Its a sad truth about the trolls and you aren't the only one that have posted trading plans, money management info, trade journals, charts showing entries/exits/stop management, broker p/l statements or whatever it is they want...many others have done the same as you in the past.

Guess what...after they caved in to the request...the trolling continued.

Thus, I wouldn't make any effort to post any archive info that's stored here at ET or anywhere else online that proves them wrong. Just let them be ignorant so that its easier to identify them for your ignore list when they crawl out from the gutter to demand proof.

Seriously, next year when new traders join ET and they see you talking about your trade method and they start trolling you too...will you continue coughing up those links or make new posts with live calls, trading plans, charts and broker p/l statements ?

I wouldn't because they don't deserve access to the info.

You're right, wrbtrader. They don't deserve it. I don't post it for them. The trolls don't want to hear it, but finding DbPhoenix's work was a Godsend for me. I hate seeing the way he and his work are treated by those who haven't even tried to understand it, much less test it. I post it for the guy who is looking for a better life, a better living, just as I was three years ago. That's the guy I post for, not the trolls. If it weren't for that guy, I'd log out of this place and never look back. I'm not here for me. I'm not here for the trolls. I'm here for that next ET generation of guys like me.
