Al Brooks - Al Crooks, Charlatan

This is not true since you have massive interest in Vic Niederhoffer and he is certainly not a 'solidly proven successful entity' (blew up at least 3x)

VN is a solidly proven trading entity. He has trained a dozen plus $100 million to multi billion $ hedge fund managers and countless uber succesful traders. There is no one else on earth who can claim this. Certainly not folks like brooks etc. i bet there is not one real pro trader who credits him with brooks with their proven success.

So please stop now. Thanks.

We all learn to trade through our own experience, but if one morsel of knowledge that I would gain from Brooks, or you, or anyone else makes me a better trader, then I sure as hell won't call you a crook...especially if you only charge me 300 bucks for ALL of it (sorry surf, I'm not going to buy your advice, you have to give it freely:)). Seriously, don't you guys know what the real charlatans are charging (not saying they are all charlatans, but the ones that aren't are waaaayyyyyy overpriced).

The thousands of hours I've spent trading, sometimes successfully and other times not, is why I'm defending Brooks. I think your statement is unjustified having not read the material being discussed here... with all due respect.

I don't disagree with u -In spirit-- Maybe Brooks knows his stuff, but to the best of my knowledge-- based on what i read here only-- its very suspect.

While there are plenty of proven entities out there, why follow someone who really has no proof and all we know is marketing spin?

The point was that VN himself is NOT a successful trader.

Interestingly, VN has taught others and they are successful.

This means that Brooks etc might also not be successful but may be capable of teaching others to be successful.

I can live with this.

This has been an interesting and fun discussion. Got to go enjoy the holiday now with my wife of 27 years. I usually hang out in P and R, so it's been most enjoyable having civil discussion with all. Everyone, have a great weekend, and a great holiday if in the US. And regardless of technique, good luck to all traders in this thread.

Peace out

@Visaria

i consider al as a trading friend, though we trade differently. and furthermore, as one trader to another, i do not consider you as an adversary either.

why don't we just trade and post some live trading screen shots, profitable or not,
to help those traders who wish to learn to trade better? with all due respect to all.

also wishing you the very best in trading too, visaria.

I disagree. I have a feeling that Al Brooks is quite genuine. If you want to make a net average of a $300 a day, he's your man.

He might very well be. However, he remains unproven and relies on marketing rather than his students who gave achieved greatness -- not to mention dubious untested methods to lure in clients. Any thinking person would be suspect.

Wrong, VN is proven succesful over decades. DECADES. Sure, he has a personal demon called hyper competiveness that causes his downfall. But YEARS of proven and verified success speak for themselves.

Seriously, even mentioning VN in a thread about an internet marketer is bizzare beyond belief and frankly wrong.

You really have no clue.

With that said, maybe brooks does help some traders. I really dont know.

Another danger about Brooks is he denigrates other useful strategies for understandng market context as being non-profitable and distractions, while we don't know that his method is profitable nor can we assume he can fully communicate all he knows about the market so what we can emulate his alleged success. Looking at VIX, TICK, advance-decline, and TRIN, as well as an oscillator on the 1-minute chart are quite useful at times.
