"African American people should want jobs, not food stamps"

Imagine if MLK, had said this, it would have probably went down as one of his famous lines, because it is true. That line is saying that black people should not want politicians giving them shitty little handouts, they should want to have control over their own destiny, and they should want an equal opportunity. This line was never an attack on black people as a group, it was an attack on democrats who try to bandage up the problem with government handouts.

Why is it that when Newt says this exact line it is considered racist? Newt was actually pandering to the african american community, saying, "hey come to our side, and we will give you a real oppoortunity, instead of simply patronizing you, and handing you enough to live. The fact that African American unemployment is almost double the actual unemployment rate, should be deeply troubling to black people, and Newt Gingrich was actually addressing the fact that simply giving out handouts is not solving the problem, so how on earth could anyone on the left say that this line was racist? I bet you if any democrat would have said the exact same thing, people would have been hailing them for addressing the fact that black people are currently not getting a fair shake.
 
If a Republican says ANYTHING about black people - it is racist. Toss them a bone - it's racist. Don't toss them a bone - it's racist. Compliment a black person - it's racist. Give a black person a hand up - it's racist. Help a black person run for office - it's racist.

When are the minorities going to wake up and realize that the Democrat party is their ruination not their salvation?

See I would be fine and dandy with just saying that everyone should want a job instead of food stamps, but then your liberal buddies would be out there saying that the GOP does not care about the plight of black people, because they are not specifically addressing their issues. So republicans are racist to address the issue, or else they dont care if they dont address the issue. Either way the right gets attacked as being racist.

So its a damned if you do, damned if you dont scenario, whereby Democrats demagogue the issue either way, in order to paint conservatives as racists.

Actually, to be fair, Bill Cosby has said these things. But then he gets called an Uncle Tom by the left and other black people. Max, some people don't want to be free.
 
I honestly dont know how conservatives are supposed to address this issue, because like you said, a person is either considered an "uncle tom" if they are a black conservative, or a racist if they are a white conservative and they try to address the issue. And liberals then have the audacity to point out that not many african americans support conservatives, and they use it as a point to brand all conservatives as racist....

It truly is a game of "heads we win, tails you lose" for liberals, and i doubt anything will change for African Americans until Democrats quit playing this game for political benefit.

When white people get government aid, it is subsidies. When anyone else gets government aid, it is welfare. Do you really want to challenge this? Whites get an awful lot of welfa--subsidies:D
