Add computer or monitor?

Excuse me. How come you get 10 computers but only 6 monitors?

Why do you need so many computers?

You can use a switch box to use several computers with one monitor, keyboard, mouse. For example if you do number crunching with one computer, there is no need to look at the screen all the time.

I have never thought of that.

Thanks for telling me about that.

Do I need to buy a particular switch box for a particular device (eg swtich box for keyboard, for mouse, for monitor)?

Any pros and cons (eg reduction in performance)?

Is it cost-effective?

Your computer can handle all the monitors WinXP will allow...that's 10*.

You'll only *need* another computer if your resources are tapped out by your applications. Otherwise, one computer is enough.

*If you want more, there are 3rd party workarounds.

Thanks for the advice.

How about the workaround of having more than 10? How to do that? Does it work perfectly or buggily or with some constraints?

I still don't understand how to add, say, 10 monitors.

My mobo: A7N8X-X
(The link contains all the specifications. Please take a look!)

I have:
1 VGA port
1 S-Video port
1 DVI output port

I think I can only get 1 extra monitor. Do I need to buy one video card per one monitor (I have 3 PCI slots left)?

This one looks great, so I can control 10 computers from the same computer.

How is the performance?
Buggy or not?
Performance is great on a LAN at full 32-bit color.

Even across a WAN, I check up on about 50 computers at remote locations. Using basic 8-bit (256-color) screen settings, it can be quite useable across the internet. :)

Do you observe any slow-down when control many computers or access to a computer which is far from you?
