ABC Obtains FBI Agents’ Texts, ‘Secret Society’ Comment Appears to Have Been Made in Jest

It’s been the talk of Washington for the past 24 hours. A text message exchange between two senior FBI employees in which one alluded to an anti-Trump “secret society” within the Bureau. Republicans like Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) have been prominent on the airwaves, hinting that such a secret group could exist.

But ABC News has obtained a series of text messages between FBI lawyer Lisa Page and senior agent Peter Strzok. The texts seem to suggest that the infamous “secret society” comment was made in jest.

“Are you even going to give out your calendars?” Page wrote to Strzok, in a text obtained by ABC. “Seems kind of depressing. Maybe it should just be the first meeting of the secret society.”

ABC reports that the above message “stands alone…with no apparent tie to other messages sent before or after it.”

If there was a real secret society, why would anyone say that there should be a FIRST MEETING? A secret society that has never had a meeting?

Actually Trump did say it is jest. At the time, the fake press was saying Russia had them all. Actually, the NSA should have them all.

So it's clear you are biased beyond reasonable, unable to discern modes of speech. It's a symptom of TDS.

I too thought the 'secret society' comment was in jest. No, i don't think there was an official secret society with a name, but rather, a secret society in fact. It's called a conspiracy.

We will find these agents acted on the intent behind the joke. Trump did not go looking for emails from Russia. Not the same.

Oh, today i heard a pundit chewing the fat with Joe Scarborrow say the release-the-memo campaign on social media was being run by "the Russian Federation". He wasn't joking. Said it with a straight face.

It's TDS syndrome like this that lends itself to fodder for jokes like the one Trump made a while back.

Yeah, dems have been colluding for over one hundred years trying to destroy the Trump presidency.

Apparently, there is a secret society rule that there can be no newly formed secret societies.
