Quote from Vinny1:
What about insurance companies dropping your coverage when you get sick? I suggest you watch Sicko and Frontline's Sick Around America if you haven't seen them.
With a public option and co-ops available, and insurance companies selling across state lines, we'll just have to wait and see what the monthly premiums end up costing.
I wouldn't watch a Michael Moor film if he paid me. And in any case, I'd hate to rely on a film for actually statistics on cancellations due to sickness. Frankly, I doubt it. I don't think an insurance company can unilaterally cancel a policy unless they were ceasing business in a state, or unless you lied on your application in some way. My wife has had some health difficulties in the last year or so, and no problem at all with United Healthcare.
I'd suggest you provide some statistics. That's what we see entirely too much of, no facts, alot of political rhetoric.
In the house bill, there is nothing about insurance companies selling across state lines. So that won't be happening. And again, for many of us, premiums are definitely going up because of the pre-existing conditions clause. Companies cannot provide that type of insurance without raising rates.
So let me guess what happens next. The public becomes outraged when premiums go up, and politicians blame it on the insurance companies. LOL!
