Quote from mjw73:
Doing all that DMX is really messing up your mind. You mean to suggest we shouldn't treat people equally? I never said EVERYONE IS EQUAL. They should be.
Yeah, you just said slavery wasn't that bad. What a SAP! Way to dance around the question, you capitalist PIG!
Either you agree that slavery led to today's current racist/prejudiced atmosphere, or you don't.
Give me a break. DXM has nothing to do with this conversation. Why don't you break open some and try it for yourself sometime. I experimented with some drugs in college -- who the hell hasn't?
You can't corner me into a box with your arguments. I am still standing by my original premise which is (for those of you -- namely you -- who can't read a simple sentence).
a) Slavery is wrong.
b) Not all slaves were treated poorly.
c) I should have nothing to pay back any black person due to slavery.
If you can't understand these three very simple premises, than you're just brain-dead.
First, I've never heard anyone say we owe them "continuously over time". Quit exaggerating.
And quit saying "WE". You aren't a huge billion dollar corporation that started as a plantation and became an industry leader solely due to the huge flood of cheap slave labor.
I'm not exaggerating. Turn on any local black talk show and listen to the hypocrisy that is constantly being projected from the entire situation. I don't know where you live, but in the major urban area that I live, I get a chance to listen to "African-American" radio every morning that is filled with slanted and twisted stories about how whites are put into this huge group where everyone in that group is racist towards the black person. It's really horseshit and wearing thin.
HAHA! I'm not even going to try to explain that one to you, it's easy.... Here's a hint, it has to do with minority and majority. They don't teach it in highschool, so I'm not sure if you've been exposed to these high-end ideas and philosophies.
That one would be ok, can you figure out WHY?
Why would a naawp be wrong or "unneeded" (big hint there)
Wow, you really thought you had 3 intelligent angles here.. Too bad they all fall apart on the same premise.
Since bobcathy thinks you're so smart, I'll let you figure this one out too.
The answer is the SAME for all three questions. All you need is easy logic.
Why don't you spell it out for me? I was the one that, just a few years ago, had a black teacher for my history class that concentrated the entire curriculum on African-American history and culture. This sort of blatant shit happens all the time. It isn't racism if a black teacher covers 99% of his/her history class about the black plight, but it sure is grounds for a suit if a white history teacher doesn't cover enough black history for his/her class.
Let's use your moronic argument for this one.
aphie sez:
"Who cares if women got oppressed in the past. I didn't do it, so we don't owe them SHIT.
They should quit complaining and do something about it."
1)They don't have to quit complaining.
2)They are trying to do "something" about it.
What are they doing? Should I just drive by the local NAACP office and pay a weekly payment to cover reparations for things that I had no control over that occurred in the past? Do you see the stupidity of the whole situation? This is just pure bullshit, and if you can't see it, you're the moron (thanks for resorting to name-calling, btw -- I figure I'd just return the favor and sink to your level of idiocy).
Why should it be significant to you? Sigh, you're soo flighty.
How does something that happened in the US affect you more than something that happened in china? It's only significant because the after effects are happening in YOUR backyard. You're almost a waste of my time. Can you even make a decent argument? Or stick to one argument at a time? Last post you turned your BELITTLEMENT of slavery into some capitalist rant. You can't even stay between the lines on this one.
Can you not see how slavery is related to capitalism?! Have you ever taken a history or economics course? Do you know how free labor affects profits? Slavery is a direct consequence of pure capitalism! If you can't see that, then I suggest you do some really fundamental analysis -- you don't even need to take a class. Just use common sense -- the two are directly related. I'm just suggesting that if you're going to go on a tirade about racism and slavery, that you take a good hard look at U.S. society as it exists today. If you can't see that "smudged over" slavery still exists, then ask me to give you some clear-cut examples that even you could understand.
There you go again, not reading and missing the point entirely.
You never said you supported slavery, you just said it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. What's the point of saying that?
My point is that if African-Americans are going to go on a rampage about slavery, that they should also acknowledge that their OWN RACE had something to do with it. It just wasn't the white man stopping by the shores of Africa to pick up a few slaves to use as free labor -- it was a little more complex than that. Furthermore, if they're going to point the finger at the white man, then they're just as guilty of what they accuse us of doing -- can't you see that?
