"Our guest explains why he says Baby Boomers--the generation born between 1940 and 1964--have been a scourge to American prosperity. He says the Boomers are a generation relentlessly devoted to their own enrichment at the cost of their country and children, behavior that makes them sociopaths."

So continuing your hate of Baby Boomers, eh?

Pity none of the younger generation has the work ethic or integrity of the Baby Boomers. All the younger crowd wants to do is get stuff for free, live in their mommy's basement, and biatch about stuff. Maybe the younger generation needs to get out and work.

You do know you just confirmed the point there? I was expecting that as in my experience the boomers will deflect blame to anyone else, including their own children.

The rot started somewhere, every country has left and right but in America is has become toxic.

Here we go. Couple of us noticed that you were not well psychologically yesterday. Seriously. Not well.

So the next phase of the cycle is you start bashing Americans.

And for those who have not seen this movie a few dozen times, tomorrow and the day after of the cycle moves into stories about great people you know and met at the airport who confirm why you are great and Americans suck.

I guess its what you do when you only have yourself to care about.

"deflect blame to anyone else"...kind of like what you're doing. Every generation has it's problems. Yours in the inability to take responsibility for anything.

More knee-jerk hostility as expected.

There is a reason I return to this subject. Why is America different? The flood of post WWII money and opportunity made the USA the easiest place to get rich in the world for a good while, for the largest block of people ever.

Now America is screwed up in unique ways, is it from being spoiled?

From a comment:
"The Boomers, of course, were the only age group to vote for Trump over Clinton, and so it's not at all surprising that he would reward their loyalty with no cuts to Social Security and Medicare but huge cuts to basically everything anyone under the age of thirty should care about (research and development, education, climate change). (btw- in one chapter, Gibney cites to a number of studies that show that Boomers are much more suspicious of science and rationality and much more inclined to trust their feelings than other generations. Trump's budget sure shows it...)

Spoiled? Absolutely, with every generation becoming more spoiled as time has went on. You're conflating too many other issues looking for some way to blame everyone else for the failings of leftist ideology. Bunch of petulant children having a tantrum, all because a lay up election was blown by a piss poor candidate, who as it turns out is a boomer too. The truth is out there. One day you may stumble into it as you're looking in the mirror.

I personally believe that a fair part of the left/right polarization came about because of the effect of a spoiled generation voting only for their own interests. Sociopaths.

Left right is a distraction. Another comment on the book:

""This one is a bit out there and it's very much on purpose. He makes a strong and well researched case that the Baby Boomers have essentially screwed every other generation in the country through the use of their larger numbers and their tendency to vote. They have legislated for their own benefit from the moment they turned 18 and continue to do so today with little regard for others. While I wouldn't call any of the specific Boomers I know a sociopath, their generation has behaved like that many times... A very interesting read. It's not left vs right. It's Boomers vs all other generations... ""

"tendency to vote." is interesting. I guess if if works for you, then you vote.
