Unfortunately, none really exists. All we can do is try limit easy access to guns. Would have probably prevented Florida massacre.
Ok, how do you limit easy access to guns? I'm not saying access is easy, but I'd like to understand your take. I promise polite discourse from the other side of the argument, so long as you provide the same.

On a very high level. It takes quite a lot of effort to purchase 2nd and so forth guns in NYC, and getting a first one is no easy task by any means, plus it is a long process where you being thoroughly vetted.
All it takes to buy a gun in Pennsylvania, for example, is to show up at the store with PA driver license.
This is what I meant. The process to buy something as serious as a gun, should not be as easy as buying a pack of cigarettes.

I does take a while - 3 to 6 months - to be able to obtain a firearm in NYC. A bit less than $400 for the permit fee and the interview. Most of what is given is a "premise" permit, meaning you have to keep the weapon at your house. But nothing stops you from taking it out of your house. If you were a crazy with no prior record, you could get a gun in under the 6 month time frame and leave the house on the day you got the gun and go out to kill folks.
While the time required to legally purchase a weapon in PA is shorter and the cost less expensive, all firearm purchases still go through background checks on the federal level, just as they do in NYC.
The reason you will find illegally purchased weapons in NYC that come from other states is simply for the fact that it is easier to get there. But making it just as hard in every other state would not stop or even impede the flow of firearms should crazy people decide to go off the rails. At best all you would have is a higher cost of black market firearms. People with the intent to commit illegal acts with firearms would still obtain firearms! But people whose intent was to defend themselves would not, because they would want to follow the law. You would be robbing law abiding citizens the chance of defending themselves and not making any noticeable dent in crime.
Saying it is as easy to purchase a gun as it is to buy a pack of cigarettes is a very disingenuous statement, and one that turns off supporters of the 2A from discussion because, when we hear folks like yourself use hyperbole that is not true, we know there can be no fair discussion that is considerate of both points of view.

Before calling me a lair, read my post. I did not say there is no check, but it a total light weight when compared, for example, with NYC check.

Correct, but most of such people, as bad as they are, are not lunatics/mass shooters that go on killing rampages.
Once again, it is MY OPINION ONLY, not inflicting it on any one. Apart from reversing 2nd amendment, all we can really do is make gun purchases a lot more harder, thus "HOPEFULLY" deterring lunatics. Would not have helped in Sandy Hook case, probably would have prevented Parkland.
Would love to hear your suggestions, apart from keeping status quo or arming teachers. As we saw in Santa Fe, it did not really help.
