making a case. How is Bush trade policy vis a vis the automobile industry any different from prior administrations? What percentage of "Japanese" cars are actually manufactured in the United States? What was the impact of a lower dollar on domestic production? Why should taxpayers facilitate the nationalization of GM health and pension benefits?
Do you even know that Japan is selling the fewest number of cars at home in three and a half decades? Do you know that GM's sales abroad are the highest in it's history?

One day you will wake up and it'll finally hit you that Bush with his unwavering support of free trade destroyed the manufacturing sector on which most blue collar whites relied for a decent income and a somewhat stable future.
He also made things worse by pressing for "market based" solutions for heath care while GM was crushed under the rising costs of its retirees health care costs.
GM can't compete not because its cars suck, it can't compete because it's at 2000 $ disadvantage per each car they make compared to Japanese manufacturers.
