You made the claim that Reagan would be viewed as a liberal today. Not me.

The fact of the matter today's republicans would be viewed as liberal by Reagan's standards, not the other way around. As pointed out, look at Reagan's tax cut compared to the crap that is being pushed today. Its not even close.

The point in this post is not terribly difficult to understand.

I will need more time to wrap my brain around that. Apples with oranges comparisons I can grasp but apples with cats I need more coffee for.

Anyway, I need to get out in the fresh air for now. I've promised to show a Colombian butcher how to make Irish black pudding. It is very similar to their traditional 'blood sausage' but with barley/oats instead of tasteless rice and some other spices.

I love how everything with lefties comes down to race. It has nothing to do with race. Hillary Clinton is a horrible person. No matter what Trump does, it is still better than having Hillary.

I can see an argument that Trump had to happen, that does not make him worthy of praise. Race? what??

Ok, back to the black pudding :) at least that makes the world a better place. For me.

I explained before that I had to google how Maine was split and why it was different to other states.

Hillary of course assumed she was bound by the electoral college and campaigned as such. Her campaign was over confident. Trump winning has less to do with him being great and more to do with enough white voters wanting to burn it all down given two lousy choices.

I've spoken to 12 personal acquaintances who voted for him about why. 10 did so as they wanted to break/reset Washington knowing he was a fucking turd. The other two were lightweight idiots who knew nothing about him.

I will agree with your middle paragraph about Hillary's campaign and two lousy choices.

Back to the subject of Reagan, I believe that you under estimate his impact on the demise of the Soviet Union and the tearing down of the Eastern Bloc. His actions led directly to the tearing down of the Berlin Wall (which I have a chunk of that I broke off myself a few months after the wall came down). While I support your points that there were many important players in the collapse of the Soviet Union (Gorbachev, etc.) -- and Reagan was just one of the involved parties. However I believe that you underestimate his influence on the end of the Soviet Union simply because you do not enjoy hearing the right continually harp on Reagan being an example of a great conservative leader.

What exactly do you do you trade?

So you ARE from Minnesota then? hehe. Fun teasing the spectrum kid. Ok not that much fun.
Oh my, my bad Tom B. Regan & Reagan are the same to me, just anglicised spellings of Ó Riagáin or Ó Ríogáin. In school we used the Irish language names for Irish families. All the best loudmouth Republicans in American politics are Irish though don'tcha know.

@jem, I have no great issues with Ronnie as an iconic man. He was a big man on the world stage for sure however excess 20/20 revisionism makes me fell ill. I was there, I remember the 80s and I'm not as convinced that Reagan was calling his shots as much as others credit him. There was a cost to Reagan's approach. I can't think of a good analogy really but it is like a doctor curing a distressing disease by giving you a different one.

Charles Krauthammer (feel free to correct me again Tom B) coined the term "Reagan Doctrine" I believe? It seemed to me that afterwards Reagan realised, oh that is what I am doing? oh okeydokey then!. I am trivialising of course but there was a disconnect between the first and second term.

The collapse of the Soviet Union in my mind anyway was a like snow building in unstable ways to form an avalanche waiting for a final trigger. Much of the process was mindless erosion. I personally credit Gorbachev with 70% of the final sequence. Reagan's squeezing did have an effect but it would have been dismissed by a healthier, younger Soviet state. It was fortunate for Reagan the old guard hung on a little too long.

So you credit Reagan for creating certain contributing conditions and I credit a far longer chain of events within the USSR.

Hairsplitting perhaps but what was actually said and done vs what was interpreted matters to me anyway*. I just dread the day when Trump's face is put on mount Rushmore by those who concoct a glowingly revisionist past for him.

*"We will bury you" for example. Did he mean that or we will be present at your funeral?

You are an imbecile. Your next coherent post will be your first. And you are still too embarrassed to admit what shit hole country you come from. Pineapple, lol. Right now, I am living in California, BTW.

Nice for a gopher like yourself getting out to the West Coast.

By 'pineapple' you mean Panama which is on my profile? That is where I was when I joined. You might not have noticed but I move about a lot being all international trader guy. I'm probably going to be in New Orleans for Christmas.

I'm not from Panama though it being a hellhole might explain the Trump International Hotel & Tower Panama. It is a bit hot there outside aircon but you really should see San Blas and Bocas del Toros is pretty popular.

What exactly do you do you trade?

Futures mostly.

I still don't get the race thing.

Fair enough, Reagan did a lot however when I hear things like "How Reagan ended the cold war" it bugs the crap out of me because it was way way bigger than him.

He was a great leader (hard to forget anyway) though he started some very corrosive practices, perhaps winning a battle but setting precedent which lead America to bad places also.

Personally I think Reagan would be a little embarrassed (quite a lot) of the overblown St. Reagan thing.

Every one of your posts reinforces the fact that you are an imbecile. Keep posting, shit hole trader.

I'm not a fancy SPX Options trader like yourself but anyone in LA saying someone else lives in a hell hole is delusional. :)

Where am I from Tom B?
