5% of black men in prison

Boy did it ever go off the rails. :D I see the argument has mushroomed this morning. Here is a little video that talks about some of the costs of drug abuse. Of course, PT will latch on to the legal costs but it is the other costs that are the problem with making hard drugs legal. And, as you state, once addicted abuse/rehab is a revolving door for most addicts.

Quote from CaptainObvious:

Another thread gone off the rails. Here's some perspective form a person who has used, abused and been addicted to alcohol and drugs, and spent some time in a cell. That person would be me.
Jailing abusers and users is a waste of time and money. Rehab can be a waste of time and money as well, but it does need to be offered at least once. Weed should be legalized, but crack? There are no recreational crack users. DUI first offenders should be given nothing but a slap should they blow less than .12 or so. Higher than that, you're f'n drunk and need to be punished. Second offenders is a whole different story. They need severe punishment which includes jail time and loss of license.
It's an up hill battle all the way. Most will never rehabilitate, most will never really care. After nearly 27 years of experience working with drunks and addicts all I can say is everyone deserves a chance, maybe two, but most will fuck it up. It's just the nature of addiction.

Oh, wow, I feel bad now.

Seriously. I did not know that was his condition.
Huh?

Luke, I walk 6-9 miles per day to pull of that last 25 I need to get to IBW. If you train very hard, you won't need the creams.
it's actually a shot, but I do need to walk more, or run. Which I hate.

If you still drink to excess, slow that down. There is clinical evidence that it impairs testosterone and encourages estrogen.
I don't.

Damn Brass, I really do feel badly now.:(
Oh jeez, get over yourself. 1) you don't really feel bad and 2) even IF you did there is no reason to.

Just be yourself with a group of strangers for a few minutes, and they'll give you all the incentive you need to run.

I suggest swimming, much better on the joints.

Maybe we should all chip in and get RCG a car. I feel bad that he has to walk everywhere - especially in those cold, windy IL winters. :)

I think he's saving his pennies for a Cirrus. Of course he can't fly it so not sure what he plans on doing with it.

You don't need a license to crash, do you?

We have a stand your ground law. Besides, you runs their mouth then fucking runs away?

Some great posts here. This thread has been established to help prevent yet more of our black males ending up in a cage.

It is so tragic that so many of our black men are currently caged, when instead they could be gainfully employed in some way or the other in the service and manufacturing sectors.

I believe that large corporations (MacDonalds, Taco Bell, to name but a few) should use affirmative action to get more black men off the streets and into productive work, rather than a life of crime.

The facts speak for themselves: 1 in 20 of young black males are in a cage. This is unacceptable.

Quote from Brass:

Fuck you. You are a racist fuck and a lying piece of shit.

Wow. The facts on black incarceration are just that... FACTS.

5%, buddy... 5%. Or, in simple terms just for you: 1 in 20 black males in the USA are caged.

Why are you so emotional? Can you not accept facts?

Are you not concerned about the wellbeing of our fellow black male citizens?
