5 dead in Texas shooting, suspect armed with AR-15 is on the loose

We get this same type of brain dead argument with the second amendment. One of the biggest problems with you right wing types is you just don’t realize how stupid you sound.
You folks like to label traditional mainstream Americans as right wing.------ Ridiculous

I don't understand the "doesn't allow universal background check" thing. Any time I purchase a firearm, I have to fill out a form that goes to the ATF. There's a three day waiting period unless I have a CCW (which I do, and which requires a much more intensive background check). If I have the CCW, I can get the gun the same day, but the background check is still submitted. So where are you saying there are no background checks? Gun shows? Private sales?

For the record, I have nothing against tradition. Do your thing. But the idea that I’m supposed to pretend as though established law never existed because you are an idiot is a bridge too far.

So many states have a law requiring a firearm transfer form to collect all information on the party being sold to. Florida does. The problem is that many of these laws aren't enforced. Heck, in the screenshot you posted, it says 81% are for proper and better enforcement of existing firearm laws. That's where we should start. I mean, before putting more laws people won't follow and the government won't enforce in place.

I'm all for holding someone accountable if a firearm they sold wasn't properly sold - pass and enforce that.

States are horrendous at enforcing gun laws, and gun laws vary greatly between states.Thats why gun violence needs to be handled at the federal level imo,but republicans wont allow it,not even something as simple as background checks that 87% of Americans support.

Again, I'm for background checks. Complete and total. But there are so many laws in place that require that in most states. Why pass more laws? We not make it a crime to violate those laws and enforce on it? Or repeal them and pass ones that you prefer to be more comprehensive.

Federal laws work quite well.I forgot the exact number but only around 5-10% of people arrested for illegal possession of a firearms are convicted felons.Reason being its a federal offense with a 5 year prison sentence. There very few fully automatic firearms on the streets and last I checked only 3 people were killed with a fully automatic weapon since 1987.Reason being having a fully automatic weapon illegally is against federal law with a 10 year jail sentence.
