I added a new rule to my strategy.

Don't trade at StarBuck's.

I had a power issue and went there to trade. Big mistake, that was my only losing day.

Its been well documented by the FBI and Secret Service that Starbucks is a hot bed for very sophisticated wireless hackers ready to ruin your financial well being.

** Trading using an open wifi spot is a big NO NO

Clean ascending triangle poised at resistance.

I've a buy stop in place to purchase 100 December 2011 $480K NEKE call options should the account balance break $350K :D

Weekly Update for week 21/50 ended 6/4/2011

Disastrous week, down 30K (9%).

The big melt-down was the market sell-off on Wednesday. Suffered a rout in my automated trades, with the single biggest loss in an automated position. At the end of the week lost 21K in my automation. Discretionary did not fare any better, losing another 9K.

Another week-end of introspection and tweaks to the system.

Do you feel that constantly tweaking your system will only invalidate your historical test as well as your forward tests?

How can you tell if a system is profitable in the long run if it is being tweaked so often?

ie. You may have had a very profitable system in the long run but tweaked it because of a losing week that made it appear unfavorable.

i made 82k this week and 224k the last 5 weeks. i shorted every big bounce the past 5 weeks and made 10-40 pts on the es every time being patient. there was initial pain involved but it all turned out well. but no doubt its been tougher than the last few yrs as you must extend your time frame way out

Nodoji,

First I must say I've followed all these journals and not posted till now. I'll not be posting anything of substance at the moment. In the beginning I found it somewhat interesting. Now I check to see the volatile upswings and downswings that occur regularly, while being surprised by neither. That result then brings about commentary by those that cheer and offer support, advisement, or ridicule. I find the psychology in that as interesting as I do in that which drives Nekes wild, erratic, and undisciplined participation in the markets.

You seem sensible within this realm, and were it possible I'd gladly write those calls for you with a nice premium due to the both the implied and historical volatility within the issue here. Not having looked at this weeks results yet, I believe it will be either a large winner or a large loser.

Take Care and have a wonderful weekend!

That's what I was thinking. Unless you have sufficient data to show the tweeks work or don't work, then it might be best to leave it as it is.. ?
