16 years 9 months, crazy fast global warming

Once again, FC is posting charts with Y-axis improvisions that attempt to show a minor temperature increase of below 0.07 degrees C change in ocean temperature over the past 10 years as a hockey stick end of the world.

The ocean warming is much less than the 'climate change models' have proposed. As noted by ARGO, the measured ocean warming is less than the instrument error. Effectively this means there is no meaningful warming from 1960 to 2012.

The yottajoule (YJ) is equal to one septillion (10^24) joules. This is approximately the amount of energy required to heat the entire volume of water on Earth by 1 °Celsius.

The axis scale of your chart is in 10^22 joules. The chart demonstrates an increase of under 0.17 yottajoules - worst case over time. This would represent a temperature incease of 0.17 °Celsius.

The actual observed ocean temperature increase since 1960 is 0.06 °Celsius - which is less than the instrument error, and much less than the proposed models on your fabricated chart.

The climate change cabal has tried to claim that more heat was hiding in both the 0m to 700m and the 700m to 2000m ocean layer as an explanation why measured global temperatures have not been rising for 16 years - this has proven not to be true.

Why don't you plot your chart using temperature as a scale on the axis. Looks far less scary and alarmist. You can go to the ARGO website to generate graphs of actual data.

This is the original chart from ARGO of ocean temperature using default axis units

THIS is your chart on alarmism.

Greenhouse gasses, principally CO2, have controlled most ancient climate changes. This time around humans are the cause, mainly by our CO2 emissions.

But there have been several times in Earth’s past when Earth's temperature jumped abruptly, in much the same way as they are doing today. Those times were caused by large and rapid greenhouse gas emissions, just like humans are causing today.

Those abrupt global warming events were almost always highly destructive for life, causing mass extinctions such as at the end of the Permian, Triassic, or even mid-Cambrian periods. The symptoms from those events (a big, rapid jump in global temperatures, rising sea levels, and ocean acidification) are all happening today with human-caused climate change.

So yes, the climate has changed before humans, and in most cases scientists know why. In all cases we see the same association between CO2 levels and global temperatures. And past examples of rapid carbon emissions (just like today) were generally highly destructive to life on Earth.

As noted by ARGO there have been many times in the past 4000 years where the ocean temperature has obviously 0.5 degrees C above or below the current temperature. A 0.06 degree C increase from 1960 until now is pretty meaningless in the big picture.

Unfortunately a world-wide ocean temperature array has only been in place since 1960, which means the alarmists have been free to assert that a mere 0.6 degree increase in ocean temperature is some type of impending disaster for mankind. It is not.

In terms of ocean level, in or around 500AD the ocean level in many spots was at minimum 3 meters higher than it is today. This is documented in many historical accounts worldwide - including the fact that most of coastal France was underwater at this time leading to the displacement of large segments of the population for at least 100 years.

"Great human and scientist"? For fudging data and pushing the AGW scam? :D

All these "awards" show is the extent to which the AGW scam has been politicized.

Here's what Hansen's former boss at NASA says about him.

James Hansen’s Former NASA Supervisor Declares Himself a Skeptic Says Hansen ‘Embarrassed NASA’ & ‘Was Never Muzzled’

And here's more about Hansen's "legacy."

EDITORIAL: Exit Jim Hansen
NASA’s hot-air scientist cashes in
James E. Hansen will no longer be touring the country preaching his end-times hysteria, collecting a $158,832 government paycheck for it. Mr. Hansen demonstrated a certain mastery of the art of leveraging, using his position as head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies to promote a personal brand of global warming quackery. On Tuesday, Mr. Hansen announced his retirement. The vaudeville circuit won’t be the same.

Honors and awards[edit]
Hansen was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1996 for his "development of pioneering radiative transfer models and studies of planetary atmospheres; development of simplified and three-dimensional global climate models; explication of climate forcing mechanisms; analysis of current climate trends from observational data; and projections of anthropogenic impacts on the global climate system."[86] In 2001, he received the 7th Annual Heinz Award in the Environment (endowed with US$250,000) for his research on global warming,[87] and was listed as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2006. Also in 2006, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) selected James Hansen to receive its Award for Scientific Freedom and Responsibility "for his courageous and steadfast advocacy in support of scientists' responsibilities to communicate their scientific opinions and findings openly and honestly on matters of public importance."[88]
In 2007, Hansen shared the US $1-million Dan David Prize for "achievements having an outstanding scientific, technological, cultural or social impact on our world". In 2008, he received the PNC Bank Common Wealth Award of Distinguished Service for his "outstanding achievements" in science. At the end of 2008, Hansen was named by EarthSky Communications and a panel of 600 scientist-advisors as the Scientist Communicator of the Year, citing him as an "outspoken authority on climate change" who had "best communicated with the public about vital science issues or concepts during 2008."[89]
In 2009, Hansen was awarded the 2009 Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal,[89] the highest honor bestowed by the American Meteorological Society, for his "outstanding contributions to climate modeling, understanding climate change forcings and sensitivity, and for clear communication of climate science in the public arena."[90]
Hansen won the 2010 Sophie Prize, set up in 1997 by Norwegian Jostein Gaarder, the author of the 1991 best-selling novel and teenagers' guide to philosophy Sophie's World,[91] for his " key role for the development of our understanding of human-induced climate change."
Foreign Policy named Hansen one of its 2012 FP Top 100 Global Thinkers "for sounding the alarm on climate change, early and often".[92]
In December 2012, Hansen received the Commonwealth Club of California’s annual Stephen H. Schneider Award for Outstanding Climate Science Communications at a ceremony in San Francisco[93]
On November 7, 2013 Hansen received the Joseph Priestley Award at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania "...for his work advancing our understanding of climate change, including the early application of numerical models to better understand observed climate trends and to project humans' impact on climate, and for his leadership in promoting public understanding of climate and linking the knowledge to action on climate policy." He delivered a lecture, entitled, "White House Arrest and the Climate Crisis," later that same day at Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium on the college's campus.[94]

It is this kind of great human and scientist that sick ignorant deluded righties disparage. Pathetic creatures they are.

It is interesting to note that most of these awards are given to politicians and not scientists. It simply serves to demonstrate that Hansen is a political operator and not a scientist.

Here's an excerpt from an IPCC report showing how so-called climatologists' models FAILED spectacularly to the high side during the pause fraudcurrents claims didn't happen that is shown here (observed temps are the thick black lines). :D

Thank you for showing that the models did not fail. Even without the probability bands this is obvious.

What else you got?

as I stated ejected after this...

March 28, 2012

The Honorable Charles Bolden, Jr.
NASA Administrator
NASA Headquarters
Washington, D.C. 20546-0001

Dear Charlie,

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.

As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.

For additional information regarding the science behind our concern, we recommend that you contact Harrison Schmitt or Walter Cunningham, or others they can recommend to you.

Thank you for considering this request.

Sincerely,

(Attached signatures)

Like we need any more proof that jem is a piece of shit liar.

Jem claims Hansen was "ejected" from NASA...

Hansen retired from NASA in April 2013, saying he planned to take a more active role in the political and legal efforts to limit greenhouse gases.[78] The same month, the National Center for Science Education, an organization noted for defending the teaching of evolution in United States science classrooms, named Hansen as an advisor to support the extension of its area of concern into the teaching of climate change.[79]
