New study suggests a temperature drop of up to 1°C by 2020 due to low solar activity
Posted on June 13, 2014 by Anthony Watts
sc24 and historyFrom the HockeySchtick: A paper published today in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics finds long solar cycles predict lower temperatures during the following solar cycle. A lag of 11 years [the average solar cycle length] is found to provide maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature. On the basis of the long sunspot cycle of the last solar cycle 23, the authors predict an average temperature decrease of 1C over the current solar cycle 24 from 2009-2020 for certain locations.

Highlights

► A longer solar cycle predicts lower temperatures during the next cycle.
► A 1 °C or more temperature drop is predicted 2009–2020 for certain locations.
► Solar activity may have contributed 40% or more to the last century temperature increase.
► A lag of 11 years gives maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature.

And the study is wrong. Imagine that.

So now you are just hoping the sun weakens to compensate for the increased forcing due to the rising CO2 levels? There is no evidence at all that this will happen. You have no science. This "study" is a joke as are you.

Yes ... indeed your stupidity, lack of common sense, and total failure to educate yourself in the basics is indeed amusing - the problem is your constant re-cycling of nonsense like a retarded parrot.

June icebergs still roaming Lake Superior
http://blogs.mprnews.org/updraft/2014/06/june-icebergs-still-roaming-lake-superior/?refid=0

The last remnants of the iciest winter in 35 years are still afloat on Lake Superior. Check out this June iceberg captured near Madeline Island Friday by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

This year icebergs are all over the 5 Great Lakes in June. So much for "global warming".

NASA Rewriting US History

Until about ten years ago, NASA showed the US on an 80 year long cooling trend, with the three hottest years being in the 1920s and 1930s. They have deleted the raw data from their website and blocked archiving, but John Daly captured it. It was originally located at this link :

http://www.giss.nasa.gov/data/update/gistemp/graphs/FigD.txt

and can now be seen here :

http://web.archive.org/web/20120124014257/http://www.john-daly.com/usatemps.006

NASA has since rewritten US history and shows the same period warming – with 1998 as the hottest year.

data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs_v3/Fig.D.txt

James Hansen wrote this in 1999, before he decided to alter US history :

Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

in the U.S. there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country

This sort of honest assessment was no use for obtaining funding or achieving radical left wing political goals, so Hansen created a hockey stick of adjustments to cool the past and warm the present.

The current version of the US temperature record from NOAA and NASA is a complete fraud, and fundamentally misrepresents changes to the US climate.

I would like to highlight your post... good work.

you have no science showing man made co2 is causing warming...

if you did you would like to it.

Imagine the idea of backing your statements with something besides failed models.

And the study is wrong. Imagine that.

Wow. I think that FC needs to go over to the linked APS Climate Change Statement Review webpage. He needs to carefully read through the "Framing Document for the Workshop" and "Complete Transcript of the Workshop" (enjoy the nearly 600 pages).

But let me provide the quick summary of what the APS found:
Climate Change research needs to continue and hopefully bias in the research is eliminated as methods improve. There is no need to rush the results of this workshop because climate change is not an imminent threat. Nearly all the IPCC assertions have proven to be incorrect including temperature rise predictions from models and ocean temperature relationships. At this point science has been unable to demonstrate that man-made climate change exists - further research is needed.

Steven Goddard?! The Real Steve Goddard?

You do know that there IS no Steve Goddard right? It's a fake name just like the "science" on the site.
